What ended your first band...

had a singer who thought he was bono or freddie mercury, with about 0.1% of their talent.so we had problems to begin with.
last gig, he is fecking about while im trying to get my bass, and the main PA setup.
i ask him to get the monitors set, and he digs out a grubby twisted extension lead circa 1973, which has more knots in it than ive ever seen. it would be easier to unravel the secrets of the universe than to untangle this lead!
he spends most of 40 minutes with it, then admits defeat......and all because he didnt like being asked to do something which was required.
i quit after the gig, and am very happy now in another band with great guys.
they carried on as a 3 peice, playing rock covers, with no bass i must add. recently the guitarist quit, but the "band" is still going. you can imagine how bad it is..his vocals and drums, plus backing tracks or him on guitar or keyboards.......
just shows what a complete dick the guy is.

brothers......
In my first real band, the singer and the guitar player were brothers which were always squabbling... ALWAYS. Once the drummer and I walked right out of the rehearsal room to come back 20 minutes later and - guess what - the weren't finished.
However, it was my first band and I didn't have that much experience and I probably didn't know better.
Today I would end **** like that in a minute. Then it took two years ;)

. . . and then you were replaced by Michael Anthony.

I actually ended the 1st band, a trio. we were playing very lame country & western- and not really going anywhere. the drummer asked me to jam with another group. turned out to be more our style. I was asked to join - and I asked the rhythm player to come with us - but he refused, wanted to continue as he was. so the drummer & I left

Joining the USAF back in '88 ended my first 2 bands from high school.

Funny that the USAF has ended other bands over these last 23 years. I've cancelled and turned down so many gigs due to deployments, shift schedules, moving around the world, etc.

On a side note, I do apologize to all those musicians I have had the pleasure to play with over the years. Been a great ride and I'm still on the train.

We were called The Shade... Cause we all wore sunglasses. We were all classmates, 15 yrs old, in a town of 1500. No place in our hometown to gig and too young to drive ourselves anyplace else. We played once for a high school assembly and once we realized that was our only option we figured why keep putting in the time.

On top of which we all sucked and were borrowing most of our gear.

We never played as a trio again, but the drummer switched to guitar, got a lot better and we formed a new band together in college that played a few gigs. He still lives in the same town I do but is a lot more into motorcycles than music now so we don't see each other much.

I moved to go to college. To be fair we had two opportunities to get international tours (which was sweet cuz we stunk) so I figured it wasn't going anywhere, why not get an education? I shoulda stuck with the music. :(

We just finally fessed up and realized that our day was over. We were a good, fun band that had some good original material but we knew in our hearts that we were not going to go very far.

No regrets. We slugged it out and traveled around for a good few years and gave it our best shot. I look back and am glad that I can say "at least we tried." Many never even try.
