Our band (Americana, country, classic rock, pop, some blues, indie...well, everything) uses two Evolve 50s with one (or two, depending on the venue) Presonus Air 15 subs. We get plenty of volume and easy carrying and setup.

Yep. Decent fidelity means it ain't rock music loud but, fills a dance floor, means everyone can easily hear each other and also means y'all better play cleaner, better, and get those harmonies sharp.

I am familiar with the NeoX-212T, and I think you will be very happy with the SW215.

How different they are? If I remember correctly, the subway 212 is 1,5db louder than the 212 Genz Benz. I guess the 215 should even louder.
For big venues (festival) I use my Fender neo 810. May the 215 replace it?

It's been a while since I've played the NeoX-212T, but as I recall, they are fairly balanced, top to bottom, as is the SW215, though my recollection is that the SW215 is a bit more aggressive and the NeoX-212T is a bit more smooth.

All in all, I think you will find that most of my designs have more similarities than differences. It's where I feel the sweet spot is for most players most of the time, and comes from my experience in the pro audio world mixing FOH (mostly for national/international acts). Most players have this comfort zone of tones, and that's pretty much where I feel the most comfortable designing around too.

I would definitely agree. Would you also say that the NeoX-212T is more on the "smooth" side and the SW215 is a tad bit more "aggressive?" These are tough adjectives, but the NeoX struck me as being slightly more transparent, and the SW215 seems to have a slightly stronger initial attack, and maybe just a bit more "heft" to the notes. Both are very balanced and clear, though, IME/IMHO.

Kind of hard to say, the 212 has a little more extended or emphasized top end and the 215 is bigger and more round in the bottom, but is also depends on where the tweeters are set. There's also a little more mid texture in the NeoX 212 that can skew the perception.

wandered into a thread on TB, found a bunch of crabby old guys kvetching about how the sky is falling, and how smart they are in comparison to everyone else. Then, I wandered back out again.....

After totally misreading what they said or deliberately choosing to not understand it and then trying to gaslight them over what they didn’t say. Priceless.

I like the sound from big tube amps and big cabs.

My Powerhouse 1000 was a tad excessive though What a beast. But it sounded great.

VERY good point. I remember when you, Jeff and I came out with an 8x10 at the insistence of some folks and yup, they sat in inventory. The same happened with another amp brand I was working with. The basement in my house can't fit another 8x10. ;-)

I had a WT400 and tried one Epifani UL112 and it was so anemic I quickly sold it to get a UL212.

I have the Subway 115 cab now and it might be enough but I possibly may decide to pick up a second one. The single 15 Subway is certainly bigger sounding than the Epifani single 12.

I'm in a death/doom band w/2 bass players. We both use and love our PH1000s every gig and get many compliments on the sound of them from the other bands sharing backline.

You really can't appreciate 2 of these things wailing at the same time until you feel/hear it. We. Move. Air.

Are they heavy and unwieldy? Yes, but no cab sounds like these things.

A lot of what I see schools doing on the tech front is purely technology for technology’s sake; and/or the convenience of the faculty and administration rather than something that’s directly benefiting the students.

My younger sister (who graduated a couple of years ago) also attested that the prices of said e-books has NOT come down notably, compared to the cost of paper textbooks from years ago. I saw that coming a mile away lol

Funny considering it’s significantly less expensive to produce and distribute e-text than it is hardcopy. And if you’re leasing access, it also effectively destroys the used book aftermarket making it no longer necessary to keep updating titles every year.

FWIW, as part of a team for a small class project back in the 70s, I once sat down and meticulously compared a new calculus book we were using to its previous edition for a management project. And the only updates we found after comparing it page for page was a partially rewritten introduction and different sample problems at the end of the chapters. Everything else was the exactly the same between both editions. Cute huh?

The Powerhouse cabs are better than the Subway series.. Larger cabs are generally more efficient than smaller cabs.. They can produce more sound per watt of power consumed by moving more air than the smaller cabs.. I have done much experimentation in this field.. The Subway series is Mesa's attempt to compete with the lighter Markbass style of customer and reduce manufacturing costs.. But, small and light is not for everyone.. Nothing against the Subway drivers.. they are great!! Subway drivers in a larger Powerhouse cab would be wonderful.. Justin chancellor is testing one now!! He said they are amazing!!
