What happened to you today?

I would prolly be impressed by this if I gave a shag.

Sorry to bore you. I just personally love the tales of showbiz degradation, Day of The Locust stuff.
In any case, I wasn't talking to you in the first place.

Got a phone call this morning from one of the guys I'd hoped to start up a new band project with (Songs like 'Havana' please?)
We've a constitutional referendum coming up this Friday in Ireland (to repeal the 8th amendment, which asserts the equal right to life of a mother and an unborn child, effectively outlawing abortion under ANY circumstance, even at the cost of a mother's life) and it's become a pretty divisive issue here.
I've made my views clear (I'm very much in favour of a repeal) on my Facebook page and in conversation with work colleagues, and this has made the guy uncomfortable to the extent that he feels he couldn't play with me.
Disappointing, but at least we've kept it civil and I hope we will remain friends.

Sheesh, what a week.

First of all, my TV went out, as I'd posted earlier this week. That'll set me back about a grand to buy a new one.

Yesterday, I had an AC tech come out and troubleshoot why our upstairs AC unit hasn't been working too good lately. Bottom line, and I could either spend $1000 to temporarily fix the unit, or spend $7000 to replace the whole thing. Our house is 23 yrs old, and that is the original unit, so replacing it would seem to be the smarter option rather than pouring a thousand into a repair that may only last a few weeks to a year or two. :rollno:

I think I'll start a GoFundMe page to ensure I'll be cool and entertained during this summer. ;)

He was totally avuncular, Nothing to fear.

Around the same time, wife auditioned for another role she didn't get -- the raped nun in Abel Ferrara's Bad Lieutenant.
That reading was at the Chateau Marmont, and she said it was really intense, with Abel walking around her, dropping to his knees and
making "camera frame hands" at her. She read opposite Harvey Keitel, who was intent on a deep religious conversation. Seemed like both director and thespian might have been a little "over-stimulated." That would have been a more intimidating scene, I think.
Seems like you and the Mrs have done some orbiting of some glamorous names in Hollyweird. I spent a nite at the Chateau Marmont as well for a friend's birthday base, back in 2003(?) Quite a history that place has :)
Another one from that period: Wifey's girlfriend was driver for Kathleen Turner, who was starring in the Ken Russell flick, "Whore." Driver-girl was backing out of Kathleen's driveway with the star beside her when there was a tremendous thud on the hood, and driver-girl turned to see Turner's boyfriend, the director Nicholas Roeg ("Performance," "Man Who Fell To Earth"), spayed across the hood, leering in the windshield.
"Go on and tell them!" bellowed Roeg, with whom Russell had obviously been fighting.
"Tell them what?" an exasperated Turner yelled back at him.
"WHAT A DRUNK I AM!!!!" He roared.
"Just go...go!" Turner told wifey's friend, who gunned back out of the driveway as Roeg rolled off the car and across the pavement.
So a nicholas Roeg actually DID fall to Earth?!?

I'll answer your questions in PM, as every time I post in OT, I quickly regret it.
Luckily Jesus sent @D M C to remind me of my vow to stay outta here. Thank you, Jesus!

Had to cancel a replacement-drummer audition a couple of weeks ago due to a heart attack false alarm. Ran the recsheduled audition Monday, which we all thought went well. Tuesday the guy reversed course and declined. Wednesday I had an angiogram, which showed no blockages. Today we hear the former drummer is reconsidering his decision to quit. So it's been down and up. And up and down. And down and up.

Never met the man. You sure it wasn't Jeebus?

Don't let me be the excuse for not posting in OT. Oh baby what you've done to me. Made me feel so good inside. And I just want to be... close to you, you make me feel so alive!

You make me feel like a natural tomato.

Big day in Ireland today.
Went with my wife and two adult kids to cast our 'Yes' votes in a referendum (referenced a couple of posts above this).
I'm not an emotional person, as a rule, but doing this made me feel we'd reared our kids right, to be compassionate caring people.
Watching news reports from Dublin Airport just now, looks like every flight in has the Irish abroad coming home to make their voices heard.

I'm so proud of you...and the many, many Irish women and men who've made the trip Home. ✌

OK - actually this is yesterday. I decided to get Met tickets, since my son is home from college, and we haven't seen a game together in almost a year. Got two great seats from Stubhub. We we driving down, and decided to check to see who was pitching, and realized that I got a game for NEXT Thursday - they just went out on a road trip.

Well, we had dinner together on the way home.

Rough couple of days. Two weeks ago I lost my old cow dog, a border collie named Strange who had been my riding partner for almost a decade. I had to put him down, one of the hardest things I've ever done in my long and pointless life. Day before yesterday another of our dogs, a little healer/corgie cross barely a year and a half old, ran out in front of my neice's car and was killed. I know some people can't understand how much losing a pet can mean, but if you've ever loved a dog you know the kind of hole this leaves behind.

Been there. A dog is a lot more than a pet. Remember, you did the kind thing for your dog. You have everyone's good thoughts.
