I remember when back in 1992 I went for my first NEW bass, a Yamaha RBX200, and saw this one, this was TOP technology back then...but that is not the answer to this section, my first bass ever was a Teisco KB2 from 1967, what a POS it was, but I thought back then I had made the purchase of a lifetime...

In 1966, after seeing a band called Cream on Shindig (remember that show?), I pointed to one of the guitar players and told my father "Thats Me!. A week later, dad showed up with a brand new Gibson just like Jack Bruce had. Still have it! Thanks dad, RIP.

Mine was a Cheap Copy bought by my Parents from Sears for Christmas when I was 14.It had horrible action,but hey I was a Bassist.

My first bass was a borrowed (from our guitar player) 60's P bass, not sure of the exact year except he had had it forever. After about a year of playing the borrowed bass and repeated attempts to buy it, I bought a 68 P bass, still have it.

VJ Rendano Explorer style bass. Lake Placid Blue with a maple/maple neck and a Fender style headstock. Chrome hardware and white p-pickups. Don't remember how it played. I bought it off a questionable character for $25.00. I'd give my left man berry to have it back.

My first bass was a $99 National P-bass (sort of) I had begged my parents for in 1976 it had terrible tuners brutal action but it got me started. About a year later I got an Aria Jazz Bass clone that was amazing played that puppy til it got ripped off in a break in at my folks place in 1982. Some of those late 70s Japanese clones were just as good or better than there Fender counterparts. Miss that bass.

Metallic green Ibanez SR400. Was actually a pretty nice bass. Freakishly thin neck, which made it really easy to learn on, though I got annoyed with the active electronics (my own fault....always forgot to change the battery until it was too late). Got bored with the Ibanez look though and sold it to buy a friends guitar, but I had a Fender Jazz by then so it's all good.

Mine was not a signature model though it looked pretty much the same with the exception of the color. Mine was gloss red.

To be quite honest, I really never wanted this bass, though it was the only one I could afford as my dad took me down to the music store when I was 15 and said he wouldn't spend more than $200 for a bass.

Well, in those days (1975), that was ridiculously NOT going to happen, unless you found some copy of a fender and it was all hacked up, with the strings an inch off the fretboard!

The Epiphone was $325 and I BEGGED my dad to get it for me and that I would work it off around the house! It was the closest thing to getting any kind of real bass and so I took what I could get.

I was playing in a Jr high rock band and using a Les Paul copy and took the top two strings off and used the bottom four for my custom bass. Yah!

I rocked on!

My first was a 2004 MIM Fender Pbass that I begged my mom to get me for quite a long time. It was a really nice metallic green, but I fell in love with Schecters not 6 months after buying that bass.

If I could find a jazz in that color I'd be very happy.

I borrowed a friends Fernandes Jaco look alike J Bass for about 3 months until I saved up to get a Squier P-Bass pack back in '01. Still have it, but I put a '89 Squier II neck on it to give the old Dee Dee look. (The best maple neck I found for the money)

Ibanez jumpstart pack bought when I was 12. The 15 watt practice amp crapped out in a few months and i have no idea where the gigbag went, but the bass stayed in working order. Recently sold it to a female acquaintance (now a hot chick bassist)
