I need to re-watch Bill & Ted. Been decades, and I don't recall much of anything. I found all three of them in a collection a few months ago for like $10 or so, so I grabbed it.
Was returning stuff to the library today - which of course means getting new stuff - and found a few good ones. One is a PBS documentary exploring the potential health benefits of psychedelics, which is perfect because I just finished a book about the history of LSD and it both begins and ends on a similar question, as it was originally made as a medicine. (Which I did not know!) The other two are westerns - the classic Stagecoach starring John Wayne (my grandfather would be proud!) and the other a much more recent one - Old Henry starring Tim Blake Nelson. Both seem great, so I can hopefully watch them soon.
Seems like a good opportunity to watch "Jacob's Ladder" (the original Adrian Lyne / Tim Robins version, not the pointless, bland, cheap, and downright terrible remake).
I really liked that movie.
Low budget, low key, really solid small scale western.
Loved it! Really engaging story with strong characters that you have actual feelings about. I'd be interested in your thoughts on the ending when you get there.
That movie blew my mind when I saw it. Never saw the remake though.

Disney's recent penchant for making an animated film and later making a live-action version is ridiculous and tiresome.
I saw the image of him in the wig and thought it was a sketch or something. Something about this one seems especially silly.
This is why Ive abandoned American ‘cinema’. It seems to be collusive. I think the public at large never went back to movie theaters post pandemic, the writers’ strike was next, and then streaming content filled the void. Now everything is carp. Nolan’s near three hour Odysseus will bomb just due to casting, they keep shooting themselves in the foot. I want to see a robot comedy, tho- i think one could be unintentionally funny.
I think the Odyssey will gross a billion dollars just because it's a Christopher Nolan movie, despite the controversial casting and story interpretation. Movies do suck now though. There's been a few good ones recently that aren't Marvel or sequels. Obsession, Backrooms, Project Hail Mary....these are good, original movies. But it's not enough. The Avengers movie might tank. That will be hilarious. If that doesn't make a billion and there's no interest in the next one or whatever they're doing with the X-Men, that'll be interesting.

On the fence about seeing Evil Dead Burn. Advance reviews are saying it's mean spirited and very gory, which are both indicators of a good horror movie for me.
Fabulous ending IMO, in keeping with the series overall. Without spoilers, all about family, forgiveness and redemption but in a real way, not at all saccharine, formula or over-simple as that might imply. I look forward whatever else they do in the future.
