Heck, why not have Elton John on the bill? I know he's a dinosaur but it's his farewell tour. Seems like a missed opportunity. He's not particularly "relevant" but his farewell tour makes it kind of historic.

Zombies never die, they are undead. In all seriousness, Blunstone and Argent, with their hired gun backing(Jim Rodford, RIP)have been touring for quite a few years now.
Snoop dog had Andrew Gouche on tour with him about 10 years ago.

Rooted in what ? I grew up un the South Bronx right on the Grand Concourse. I went punk hardcore shows at CBGBs and Hip Hop shows and yeah I listen to both and he’s right. 4x I ran from shootouts at Hip Hop concerts. Wanna know how many times I had issues at Punk/HC/Rock shows ZERO. That’s not racial. There was nothing about race. This is purely a perspective of shows not race.
It looks pretty good. I migh be on NY at the time so I might pick up tickets. I don't have to listen to the bad rap, which is sadly most of that genre. I'll grade it at a B.
SNL was the first time I ever heard Greta Van Fleet. I thought they were the best musical guest in a long time. Liked them enough to buy the music. They seem to be a love it or hate it band. Not sure what the haters are hating on myself.
Another thing to consider, for those who may be bothered about all the older acts at festivals like this, is that in 1969, there really wasn't that much rock 'history'. The genre, as far as most white kids were concerned, was only about 13 years old or so, for some it didn't exist before the Beatles(which had only been not quite five years at that point). There was an attitude that anything before the Beatles was irrelevant, uncool, too commercial, with the occasional exception of some from the early 60's folk scene, because, after all that was serious topical music with a message, not that stupid kid's stuff. No one who emerged in the doldrums between Elvis in the army/Holly's crash and February 9, 1964, even if they were talented artists producing great work within the confines of teen-oriented top 40 radio, could get a break. Roy Orbison and The Everlys were not going to be at Woodstock. Certainly no one from the Motown roster. Even the Beach Boys, who in 1966 had issued the groundbreaking Pet Sounds(and subsequently "Good Vibrations"), the album that inspired Sgt. Peppers, was still considered an oldies act. Post Beatle bands that came up with innovative stuff in '64-'66 didn't pass the hipness muster either, it was as if all that before 1967 was an embarrassing junior high photo, when viewed in college. Personally, for me, the music of 1966 was far more interesting than that of 1967, as barriers were first being broken within the confines of top 40 radio. Much of what was great about 1967 was gestated in '66.

I wouldn’t mind watching this streamed live. A few acts there that I would really enjoy, some I never heard of and some I’d rather not hear at all. I avoid crowds, so I wouldn’t go but as far as the line up - okay by me.

I’m sure creating a lineup was not without it challenges.
How do you differentiate between Coachella, SXSW, Bonnoroo, Lollapalooza, Pitchfork, Summerfest, etc? And the grand daddy of alt-community, Burning Man? Hand out soaking wet sleeping bags and daisy’s?

Meh to any music festival. Much rather go to a show/concert with 1-3 acts. IMO you get much better performances and you get more for what you pay for. Just my opinion.
Also for those who don’t think hip-hop artists should be on the bill...I’d like to see any one of you create a hip-hop set list good enough to get you on stage at one of these festivals and say it isn’t hard work or “real, live music.” Sampling isn’t the same as playing an instrument but it stil requires skill, patience, hard work, and a lot of listening to music. It’s not much different than playing the same 1-4-5 blues riff that’s been played for ages, you’re just sampling something with a bass/guitar instead of a computer. And once the sample is done, there is still a live act involving live vocals. Are singers not producing live music because they are just singing along with a band?
