Killer band out of Philly, music school dudes vibe but very funky. But that name - not evocative.

Heres an odd name for a band lol. Known most of these guys for at least 20 years. Great guys, they all do serious music also but this band was kind of their joke band side project and for a while it kind of took over and was more popular than their other projects lol.
andddd this is where I knew my post would get misunderstood. I've been waiting all day for this lol. I didn't say they're music was bad, just the name of the group, as the OP was asking.

You don't think about it too much after a while and when a band becomes popular. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers comes to mind.

The classic crust punk band Anal **** cones to mind. It’s tough to top that for general badness. Butt Trumpet was pretty bad too. I mean sure, butts are funny, but maybe go to a little effort?
There are no worst band names, there are only good bands and not so good bands.
If there wasn't already a "Beatles" or a "Pink Floyd" would anyone think those were good band names? Probably not a large percentage of us.
Worst band names can really turn around fast when the band that wears the bad name has a big hit.

I think most of those are pretty good names, Grateful Dead in particular. The Beatles, though... wow, that name sucks. I don’t care how iconic and important they were, their name was and is still terrible.

To me, worst names are those bland and trivial such as, for example, "Radiohead". Geeez. It's difficult to imagine something with less personality. Boring like their music.

I used to play with a drummer (of course) who was in a band called, ready? Mass Eruption!

I thought Leftover Salmon got their name when two defunct bands combined. I think the bands were originally called Salmonhead and The Leftovers. Maybe?
