I would like to go on the record here on talkbass and say that I am no longer endorcing xsonics cabinets . I told this to Nick personally over a month ago, and also asked to be removed from the xsonics website as an endorsing artist. At this point he still hasn't removed me from the xsonics website!

Im still a listed artist on the Ashdown Amplification site from over a decade ago, right after Ampeg went under of which i had an "A" endorsement for 20+ years.. .. Ampeg is now back... ..
I dont worry about my name being on it at all... I figure, it allows me to be introduced to more people than just the local scene!

The way I look at it is that the company risks having someone listed as an endorser when they no longer are. If a potential customer contacts a former endorser asking about the product and that former endorser doesn't have anything good to say about it, the company will probably lose the potential sale.

I like to look at it from a more positive outlook.. How it benefits you. If i have a problem with a company i say NOTHING Unless, i was maliciously screwed over... I dont aire it in a forum unless i was maliciously screwed over.
Sometimes it better to not say anything..
For me, I dont have an issue with my pic on the Ashdown website or others websites that i no longer work with.. I have actually received gigs (good ones too) because i was still on that site. People contacted me through that site and others. I try to not go out and make bad vibes for the sake of making bad vibes... . Thats just me though... Some people are not that way..

Im may be still listed on the ampeg site. I just dont know.. I was an "A" endorser with them for 20+ ( pre internet)years that landed me MUCHO benefits for a looong time,,, and i sold allot of amps to a niche that they were not in at the time..

So, what im saying is.. "pick your fights"..

Im not picking a fight just stating the facts , I have nothing negative to say about xsonics , I have simply moved on. I also used to endorse gk but moved away from gk. After trying other amps I went back to gk their just more my tone .as far as cabinets I just pick and choose what makers I like and thats what I will use xsonics is just not my cup of tea anymore thats all. I went with xsonics for being lightweight. But with the xsonic cabinets going to traditional ferrite magnet woofers the lightweight factor gained about 10 pounds .may not be much to some but with a bad back every pound counts, at least for me

I have serious neck and back issues too.. compressed discs and degenerations.. No fun at all... So i feel ya pain.. literally//
I didnt find the the Ferrite mags too bad though.. I have the two handles which really makes it easy to move... and it seems not quite like a box of air, but to me it is lightweight...
For me. its a one hand move.. I was at a JAM two weeks ago and a fellow bass player looked at me as i was moving teh cab with one hand.. and said is it that light.. But Anyway.. Its different for all of us ..
I am digging the Ferrite magnet.. They seam to do well in rock type music.. Yesterday i used teh cab in a 3 way with tweet turned off... Sounded great with a RW strung P bass.. Later switched to teh 2 way mode that made teh 15 get more signal and sounded more like your traditional 15 type cabs.. Today i am going to start with the 2 way Vibe position for fun..

I've only heard it in my quiet studio when I really crank the cab. I've never been bothered by it as I never use it in the studio and at the gig levels I play at with my 212CF it's a non-issue. The entire bar is rumbling so much from that little light cab the levels of vibration I experience are masked. I truly love the sound and form factor of the 212CF in a live setting.

I had this same problem with my 2155CF. Mine honked like a goose when I put any power to it. I was dismayed and spoke with Nick about it but offered to do some troubleshooting. I snugged the speaker mounting bolts, determined it wasn't due to excess wire vibrating on a hard surface, then moved the cabinet into a different room to rule out something vibrating in the room. The vibration was still there. Then I turned it upside down and sat on it while playing and the vibration stopped. The vibration was due, as mentioned, to excitation of the unbraced bottom panel in back of the lower driver which made it act like a big reed. The 2155CF has a larger cross section than the 212CF (19"W x 18"D vs 17"W x 16"D) and the 3015 moves more air and pounds out more bass than the 3012HO so this occurrence is more likely.

Once I knew this was the problem it just became a matter of proper bracing. I had a piece of 12mm Okume ply left over from a project. It is light and strong so I cut a piece of it to fit flush with the front edge, which needed the most support, and about 2" in along the other three sides to clear the plastic stacking corners. I routed a 45 degree bevel around the perimeter which served two purposes. First, it looks better and blends with the cabs bottom panel so as not to look like a patch. Second, it provides a 12mm transition zone going from 12 to 24mm thickness - minimizing a sharp stress line at the edge. I coated the brace panel with black Duratex, fastened it in place with a generous coating of PL premium adhesive, and used an array of 3/4" black drywall screws to cinch it down and hold it like death's grip. Problem solved. Mine has the castors and bottom feet so there was adequate clearance. It has no affect on how the cab rests and you can't even see it.

Doubling the bottom panel thickness in this manner increased its stiffness 4X while adding just under 3 lbs to the cab weight. There are certainly other ways to do this but for me this was a win. Using the 18mm baffle stock for the bottom panel (instead of 12mm) with a couple added supporting ribs would make this a non-issue. With this fix, I love the 2155CF. It's an absolute hammer with those dual Eminence 3015s and that 5" Faital mid. The low end is so tight but solid. It sounds very good with the Genz Benz SM9.2, STM900, and TecAmp Puma 900 but is at its best with the Gallien Krueger MBFusion 800. It is very responsive to EQ and using the deep bass switch with my Dingwall ABZ-5 is amazing. Killer cab with great tone once I fixed that panel vibration.

I still need to try a CF cab one day for the fun of it...

I contacted Xsonics the other day about how the cab is going. and to tell them its rocking for me.
I sent a few pics too.. I got into telling them/heim about the problem that MuthaFunk had..
He assured me they mailed him the part Turned out it came back with not enough postage to Canada... And that he is re mailing it out.. So that is great thing..

I have an early gig today then heading out to the Alleva Coppolo show in LA. its April 5th. but im heading out to help REDDI and Alleva get their booths together.. It will be fun..
If anyone in the LA area had a Xsonics box, hit me up. Bring it to the show and i will get you in.. That way we can all try it out..

I stopped in at the Strand Concert Theater in my home town of Fremont, Ohio tonight to drop off some edits for Bass Gear Magazine #14 (the owner of the Strand, George Keller, is also our Art Director), and I saw an Xsonics cab on stage. A 215CF, I believe. Nice!

The act is Steve Gornall and the Blue Collar Blues Band.

Edit: Nick told me on Facebook that this is Roger Noonan's rig.

I have not spoken with him enough.. . BUT he seems able to do custom stuff. He seems to be tweaking his product line too and adding to it.. . So your suggestion may be a cool....
I wouldnt say its a flaw, if so, almost all cab makers have that flaw including all the pro Meyer and Claire Bros type stuff too.. Just s design decision..

I find that i like the 1155 cab on its side.... I used it that way yesterday with a WalkAbout combo on top using the WA power.. It was pretty loud running at 2Ωs with the WQ and 1155 in parallel

I hear ya, guess I should have said design. I just have a 212 I've been using for years and thats where I'm used to the controls being.

Yeah, though it is not a flaw as it is really more of a standard design, I agree that mounting there would be a more user friendly position. I mentioned this to him once in a conversation and he said he would think about that. Unlike SVT15 I always run mine on it's end and never the side, so for those that do would have an issue with controls mounted there, so likely a good decision on his part to leave it on the back for maximum flexibility in cab position.

I was surprised to see the new cabs from Xsonics - I did not know that Nick had totally abandoned the original isobaric cabs until I saw this thread again - hadn't looked in on it for a while I guess. The original cabs seemed like an interesting idea and a lot of cats really liked them - and Nick said they were the greatest thing since who knows what. So why the switch to making fEARful or nEARful cabs? I guess Nick won't be commenting because he was banned from TB? So how are these cabs different from fEARfuls?
