I can try to answer some of your questions.
Dont have any expirience with the 50' style, but i believe its a little ticker than the standard p bass. The neck on the attitude is ticker that your standard p bass, and a lot rounder imo. But you get used to it quite fast, atleast I did. Q2: i use mine in mono (about 90% P-pickup and 10% woofer, in other words just a little of the woofer). Ive tried it in stereo with my guitarists marshallcool

According to the Fender site Std P bass is 1.625" (41.3 mm) wide at nut, and '50s is 1.750" (44.5 mm), also radius is different (9.5 vs 7.25) both C shape. So I assume the Attitude is most like the '50s, even though its radius is 10" (as found on the yamaha site).

Yes, the neck to me feels a bit smaller, it is not a huge difference but it is smaller. For me it is much easier to play.

I have, and there is a world of difference.
I find that running both pickups full volume in mono mode takes a lot of highs away from the P pickup.
You just lose some of the nice high-end when you blend in the neck pickup.
Instead I use a small mixer to blend the two pickups, and that works much better for me (I like a lot if high end...)
This also gives you the possibility to equalize the pickups differently. I really like the neck pickup with a little bass boost. It gives it a nice fat sound. But then you get too much bass when blending in the P pickup, so I remove some bass from that pickup.
I think this is also what Billy does, but I'm not sure.

This thread is just killing me. Billy Sheehan is one of my favorite bass player and, even I'm not a fan of Fender-style basses, I'd really like to have an Attitude or two, but I'm left handed!
Does anyone know if Yamaha made a lefty version of this bass (or at least the new BB)?

Have you guys tried the BB714BS model? Plays, feels, and SOUNDS killer! Neck is narrow but the tones are pretty darn good!

The special has a thinner neck and only one output on side of bass instead of 2 on top.. the stock pickups ARE different, but I installed a Will Power P-pickup and left the woofer stock..
neck doesn't have scallops..
I actually use this bass to give lessons on.
and it is about 1 lbs lighter.
I knew YOU would try one before me.. haha

lol. I like that couch shot...good idea! I'll see if can gather all my Yamahas together for a family shot.The BB714BS plays amazing,it delivers tons of low end and a pretty long sustain...I took one out to a gig and it didn't let me down. Obviously it has a different tone and character to the Attitude bass.

I've had a ATT-LTD II for a few years now and never really played it very much. I didn't come with a manual so I've been trying to figure out what all of the controls and outputs are. I've read through the whole thread and haven't really gotten any answers, and even a few contradictions. I actually just learned that you can run it in mono and am trying to figure out how to do that. Can anybody tell me what the controls are?

Is it true that it doesn't matter what output you use when using the bass mono? Or do you need to use a particular output in order for that to work?
I have found a attitude for sale on the cheap and I am thinking about buying it. It is not like any of the basses I have seen here though. It is black with a white pick guard, 6 bolt neck joint, a volume and tone knob, a four or five position slide switch and one big honking soapbar looking puckup in the middle position. No neck pickup and only one output. Oh yeah and no scallops on the neck. Anyone know this model?
