I believed the movie as much as I believe any oficial account of the events.
Right.
...And I think that's a fair assessment...the truth probably does lie somewhere in the middle...but how will you ever know if you don't listen to all sides?
The movie is important. It's not 100% accurate (again), but nothing is. If you wanna sit back and take what Murdoch feeds you on Faux news as the "truth", though, you have no one to blame but yourself when it all goes to $#!+.
I think the movie is important in order to get a clear overall view.
OK, let's make that "when you finally realize it's all already gone to $#!+"
Hey, let's not forget that when Michael Moore denounced us going into Iraq as having nothing to do with 9/11 he was damn near crucified. A year later, they sheepishly gave the man an Oscar, when people woke from their comas, and finally realized they had been lied to on a grand scale.
Not everybody gets the first wake-up call. Some people (make that most people) hit the snooze bar.

At the same time Moore isn't exactly what I would call truthful. Sure, there is some truth in his message/movies/books etc but he fills them with so much crap, half truths and misrepresentations that he looses credibility BIG TIME in my books.
He's easily as truthful as the mainstream media.
Depends on which media. CNN, sure BBC, CBC not really...
Again, this is why you need to listen to both sides...right?
Because the real truth lies somewhere in the middle...always.
Not if you're reading an Ann Coulter book!![]()
Again, this is why you need to listen to both sides...right?
Yup,How can you believe ANYTHING she says???..

Wow, she really isn't very smart.

Wow man...I'm gonna have to stop you right there, because it's pretty obvious to me that you're a Christian who's unwilling to open your eyes.
Severed penis? So her getting pregnant IS functionally identical to "immaculate conception" in that it is supposedly accomplished by "impossible means". To you this is wildly divergent?
To me, this is FUNCTIONALLY IDENTICAL.
If you're gonna split hairs like this, and pretend it's not the same fable in different packaging, there's nothing I or anyone else can say to try to educate you.
Let's agree to disagree. I think the movie is valuable to those with an open mind. Again, like any documentary, it's not 100% accurate...but to my knowledge, no book, documentary, or historical account of any kind ever is.
Still, I feel it's important to hear all sides...unless of course, you prefer to put your fingers in your ears, and go "NANANANANA"...which is would appear you're out to do.
Have you all noticed that some say the first part is crap, but you really need to watch the 2nd and 3rd parts, and others say the first part is great, and the second and third parts are BS?
I think that should serve as the boldest indicator to anyone on the fence about watching this movie, that it's important to see it for yourself, and draw your own conclusions.
The difference is like cheese and chalk. It's not splitting hairs. One was a virgin, one wasn't. One had been with a man (and parts of him), and one hadn't. Massive difference.
You ignored all the other valid points I made because you are wrong and can't support your position. You don't have a leg to stand on in this argument and it's very, very clear. The movie is based on lies but you choose to ignore that because it bashes religion and you like that. You try and justify it but saying things like "it's not 100% true, but nothing is". Part I is not even 3% truth. It's totally lies.
I'm not going to defend the movie on its factual basis. At the moment I find it entertaining in the same way as the "X-files mythology" is entertaining...but more so. If there is truth behind this "zeitgeist mythology" then that will be very interesting.
What I find disingenuous is your attack of the the factual basis of this movie by comparing what is stated to what the Bible says. I'm not knocking Christianity...but as with all religions, it is a "faith" based endeavor... so to hold the Bible up as a paragon of historical accuracy and truth doesn't put a whole lot of weight behind your attack.
The difference is like cheese and chalk. It's not splitting hairs. One was a virgin, one wasn't. One had been with a man (and parts of him), and one hadn't. Massive difference.
The FACT is that the film lies. The stories are not at all similar.
Both FABLES depict "impossible" conception. Different takes on the exact same imagery. The fact that you lead off with that makes me immediately discount anything else you have to say, no matter how loudly you thump you Bible, and call it "fact".
Knowing the forum rules, and the tactics of certain folks, I epxressly asked that you discount the "lies" you accused the movie of containing without resorting to quoting the Bible as "fact".
It's only "fact" to you because it's what you've chosen to believe on FAITH.
Sorry. You can stick your fingers back in your ears now.
The stories are REMARKABLY similar to anyone not completely blinded by faith, and looking at things from a strictly pragmatic view.
