Zon basses - is everything OK ?

Mine was built in 2012 and is on the way to me. The layout is different. It has the switch so it must be a ZB-4.3. Although the build sheet says 4.3. Dosen't have stacked knobs.
Oooooh! That'll be a fun bass! Congrats in advance!

Is be very surprised if it isn't the same controls as the 4.3 from my previous reply, just with the bass and treble separated into single knobs, bass towards the neck, treble towards the bridge, with mids in the middle. If you find out otherwise please share!

Are you thinking of ordering? I bet he’d accommodate that.
I believe that's still the standard layout for one with the 2-band EQ.

If you want more controls and less knobs you can order a BG4; then most of the controls are on trim pots on the cavity cover leaving just one knob on top

What I'd like is a Sonus 8 with only 2 knobs on top like how he used to build them. But I'd like the knobs in the location of the lowest two knobs on the 3 knob arrangement.

Question is why does the master volume not go all the way to 0?
Gotta ask: would you happen to have volume/volume instead of master/blend? With Zon, what you order isn't always what you get.

A very minor glitch on my order was that the passive tone control only functions in passive mode. Might have had something to do with the fancy coil switching on my buckers? Regardless, I don't think it's a big deal, but I'm aware of other Zon orders that came in a lot more different than spec.

Anyway... sorry about the hiccup, but I'm glad you got your bass. Maybe a local tech can correct whatever's off.

Sorry you had a problem with your order! According to the previous owner and the build sheet the electronics are ZB - 4 (could be 4.3). With this preamp there is only a master volume not VVT.

Ohhhh, gotcha. Might be something mechanically wrong with the pot, I've never heard of a master not going to zero. Best of luck getting it sorted.

Hey, just looking for a little guidance from those who've either bought new from Zon or had their Zons sent back to HQ to have work done.

I sent mine in to have a truss rod installed and SS frets with a quoted turn around time of 3 to 4 months.

It's been a hair under 5 months and I haven't had any of my emails returned for about 2 weeks about the final payment (I paid a little under half down) or when I can expect the bass.

Is it best to keep trying to contact them or will it just be done when it's done and that's that?

Thanks

Keep trying, but also it will only "be done when it's done."

The level of craftsmanship will be very high, but unfortunately you're probably in for a substantial wait.

Just a heads up, my Sonus was supposed to ship tomorrow 10/14 and I've been waiting on my final repair bill for several weeks with no communication even though they promised me the bill the day after their last contact.

I emailed them again today asking for my final bill and the shipping information as it's supposed to be headed my way tomorrow. I get an email back saying that it isn't done and they don't when when it will be done and they still won't answer about what my bill is.

I understand that many of y'all have been waiting a lot longer than the 3ish months past the due date that mine is but I can't afford to keep my bank account hostage expecting to have some bill of some amount at some point. Doesn't help that I will most likely need to sell the bass once it arrives anyway.

Very frustrated and not sure where to go from here.

Anyone looking to place an order should take heed of this and all of the other bad experiences. This will more than likely be your experience as well. Update: Zon says it will ship next week. Glad to have it resolved

Sorry about your last correspondence with Zon. I was just getting ready to email them about my past due bass when I saw your post. I am approaching 2 years since I ordered it.

I am in the same boat, anyone out there who has had a positive experience with Zon have any advice for getting your instrument from them?

This is beyond ridiculous

Advice for both of us would be greatly appreciated.

It's crazy they are quoting new build times of 13 months when those like you have already waited way more than that.

I told them that after this week, I will no longer be willing to pay the remaining balance and that they can send me the bass as is so I can have local shop finish it, finish it this week, or refund my down payment and buy the bass from me.

We'll see how that goes.

I understand my invoice has an estimated completion date, and all sales are final.

With a business having these delivery issues on a consistent basis and quoting delivery times they have no intention of delivering on, are there ways to have a lawyer get a refund on your deposit?
