Zoom MS-60B announced... at last

So far this thread is the 60B forum. I think some people may have put patches in the B3 thread. As for global input/output on the pedal, there isn't one. I think it would be very handy, esp using it straight out of the box since most of the factory preset patches are so hot. But you just have to go in and change/tweak the volume within the pedal models themselves, which makes sense if you think about it.

My bass has a hot preamp in it, and it will over drive the 60B front end. I was hoping I wouldn't have to twiddle every effect and sim I need to use, one by one.

I'm trying to set up the SVT with less distortion, more like a flip top turned up a bit too loud..

BTW, can the unit be powered via the USB port?

my board, finally with the "li'l beast" zoom ms60b. I'm loving this pedal, it covers all my missing pedal in my board. they give much love for the bassist. kudos to zoom.

You would have to do that anyway if they only gave 50 open slots instead of pre-loading 30 of them with suggestions/demo patches. I think the general consensus is Zoom made them all too hot, even for most passive basses, but they had to start somewhere.

True, dat. I'm not complaining at all. the box is great. I just tracked with it, to compare to garage Band and some of my Cubase FX for bass, and I think the box is, for lack of a better word, fatter.

I really like this unit but I noticed something only when using EMG active PU with an amp sim running. Everytime I hit a note there's a mild white noise like a snare timbre shaking especially with the D string going downward. Nothing like it when I'm using the same bass with analog units. I have the recomended 9V 500mA. None of it with standard passive PU. Anyone have experienced this?

Sounds like you are overloading the input. Turn the bass down and see if it goes away.

I've got 40P5's, the active blend and active tone control, running at 18V. Nickel wounds, 45-130, high action so I can dig in, and pickups set pretty close. No problems at all, even if I practice my rather pathetic slapping technique. I have a medium touch.

Of course, all bets are off if you're running a BTC, and have the bass and treble dimed...

Can anyone tell me there thoughts on th BDDI emulator? I really like using it for some pick stuff and I just got a Para Driver in and they sound nothing alike. I really liking the Para Driver too but are they really that different or does the sansamp emulator not sound like the real BDDI? Anyone own both ms-60b and BDDI to compare? I used to have a BDDI programmable but I can really remember how close it was.

Para driver is great. I have a RPM which is pretty much the rack version.

Thanks for the link. I knew these Zoom pedals were good but man everything they compare them to sounds really close if not dead on. I can understand it pulling off one tone that the BDDI or Xotic BB can do but when he matched the knobs they really do change tone just like the originals and the dynamics sound close too.

The reason that the Para Driver had a small but devoted following, was that it didn't have the BDDI's baked-in mid scoop. Not surprised that it does!'t sound the same as the Zoom BDDI model.

Had this pedal for almost a week now and I am astounded at the limitless parameter control. It is easy to disappear down the rabbit hole and lose your reference or where you are trying to get to. Amazing tones to be found, but it isn't a 5 minute excercise to get it where you want it.

I'm looking forward to the journey, and the destination!
