Help: Out of Retirement - Cigar Box Rock

sorry mate, should have been more clear (its 2am on a nightshift, my brains starting to go)...don't have the demo at work to upload but if you know of any similar artists you can point me to in the meantime that'd be appreciated. Most cigar box stuff I've found is more traditional country, and...

Help: Out of Retirement - Cigar Box Rock

Hey TB, it's been a while. It's been about 8 years since I transitioned from a gigging bassist (playing mostly rock n roll, punk, new wave etc) into a "responsible" adult and at home hack, however I've been pulled out of retirement and I'm struggling a bit with the brief I've been given. A...

Do Nordstrand P/ups require a preamp or can they run passive

yes problem is solved. thanks for your input. tedsalt, it was the mm5.2 - have completely upgraded my old olp bass, had all the wires inside replace, as well as input jack and obviously pick up. one slight problem now. instead of no volume, its volume always on full, but thats definitely more...

Do Nordstrand P/ups require a preamp or can they run passive

Hi all, I think i've worded the question correctly. Im doing up my old OLP bass, bought Nordstrand p/ups for it. I'm not that great when it comes to anything electrical so had a mate do the installation for me. he has it all installed, looking great, but no sound. at all. I thought...

how to fill the hole left by a soloing guitarist

Assuming your playing in a straight out rock bank, i use my fuzz in conjunction with my ls-2, dig play harder, and sometimes add chorus or flanger (with regen off - so its basically a chorus). The point above about the chorus adding more to the mix is the approach i take as well, and because i...

hey mate, there a few options for an octave up pedal. depends how much cash you wanna blow really. the ehx hog's (or it might be pog's can never remember which is up and which is down...) get a lot of attention but also a fair bit of cash. if you can get your hands on a bass whammy it should do...

Butterfly Effect bassist, Glen Esmond Effects pedals?

sorry to revive the such a super old thread but i can say with 100% certainty he uses a tech 21 sansamp. my band supported glenn's side project, 'a family of strangers' a month or two ago. the only pedal he only was using the sansamp. not sure what else he uses for TBE though.

    fingerpickin vs regular picking?

i played exclusively with fingers for around 5 years but in the last 4 years i've swapped to 99% with a pick. i prefer the 'picked sound' as opposed to the 'plucked sound' for the band i'm in. but learn to be proficient in both and swap as required for the songs ideal sound

    Bass vs Guitar Effects Processer

you can, however i wouldnt use the distortions, od's, fuzzes etc as they would lose alot of low end. i would use it strictly for modulation (delay, reverb, chorus etc)

hey all. i've just had the opportunity to buy a bp80 pretty cheap. before i get the comments about the not goodness of said pedal i know the quality of it having had the bp 50 as my first pedal. my question is apparently it can do whammy via an optional expression pedal. i thought the 80 had an...

    synthy bass

hey, currently i dont own a chorus pedal, so i've been using a flanger set fairly subtly to get a chorus-y sound. (i hope you know what i mean, sounds similar to a chorus pedal but clearly different) so my question is i think i was reading that to get a decent replica of the taurus sound to...

New to this whole pedal buisness...

as fas as behringer goes there stuff is ok. the pedals are unreliable, but there cheap. you get what you pay for really. most of their pedals sound alright and do the job that you buy them for, but as previously stated you probably shouldn't be relying soley on behringer products. being a...
