This is what a "Dead Spot" sounds like

Thanks, I am switching back to rounds and will restring on the weekend. I am really just a hobbyist, but where this one is, is a real annoyance for me.

This is what a "Dead Spot" sounds like

Could a dead spot be created by using different strings? For example if the tension on the neck was changed could this affect the resonance of the neck in away the a dead spot may be more noticable. I have a real nasty on the 5th fret of my E string (A). I do not seem to recall noticing it when...

Music stores in Toronto & GTA?

The Arts in Newmarket have a good crew but the selection of Bass Gear can be hit or miss. I did buy a bass and an amp there and was treated very well. I have been back for strings and have always had a postive experience at this store. I have only one buying experience at Club Bass, it was a...

    Musicman neck size

The standard Stingray is available with two neck options, thicker with a 1.625" nut width (standard) and thinner with a 1.500" nut width, SLO version (similar to the Sterling) factor in multiple pick up combo's and you should be good to go.

    Ric 4004L

Wow great pair, specially the purple The model I am looking at was made in Mid 2008, thus I think it may have the wider, beefier neck I appreciate your help

    Ric 4004L

Can anyone give me any minor details concenring a Ric 4004L neck?. I have no chance of checking one out and have read a few things which have me confused. Any idea of the neck thickness, some info I have read leave me to believe they are rather thick? The Ric site shows a 1 11/16 nut width, is...

    Markbass Amp

Will heed the advice, the dealer where I bought it told me that it should always stay on since he did not think there was any thermostat in the unit. Thanks again Cheers !

    Markbass Amp

I guess I may have an issue, it's pretty much brand new with about 25 hours worth of playing time at low volume. It seems the fan runs constantly when it's on. Not sure if there should be a break in period although I doubt that should affect the fan. Tks

    Markbass Amp

I have a new Markbass little Mark 250 head, and have a couple of questions for anyone who may be able to help out. 1) Does the fan stay on all the time? 2) Can I use the tuner output for headphones? Tks

What really do you gain by going with a 4ohm vs 8ohm single cab?

Would the amp have to work harder with an 8 ohm cab vs the 4ohm cab?

    Need to buy a Mini

Add the other 8" and you have a whopping 25 Lb mini stack, its crazy light. Great "sound per pound" set up.

    Shuttle 3 + 15" Mesa Scout

Thank you for the comments and insight. I currently have the 8" as well as the 8" extension cab. I do enjoy this set up, but feel that I need some more lower bass dispersion if that make sense. I have not tried either the 12 or 15 with the shuttle. I did try a Walkabout Combo with the 12" and it...

    Flatwounds in Rock?

+1 , although there most recent offering has somewhat of a vintage 60-70's vibe, which I love.

    Flats

    Thanks mates, Cheers !

    Flats

When installing flats, do I need to cut the string length similar to when installing rounds? Do I also need to adjust the intonation, I will be using the same string gauges as the rounds. Thanks in advance

    'Yes' with Chris Squire

I saw a similar set up in Nov 2008, 2 RICS, One Glaub and what I think was the Mouradian. Great show. I saw most of the Progressive Acts in the 70's, but always seemed to miss Yes, still can't figure out why.

Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-10T Pretty Cool Combo

I have the Shuttle 3 with the 8" and added the other 8", still amazed at what this little tyke can do all things being equal. I use the VT pedal at times and its uncanny what this thing puts out sound wise. Great Amp, neat pedal, lousy player, but I'm happy :)

neck profile : stingray vs sterling

Hmmn, I have a sterling and have played numerous stingrays. Although the thickness is minimal, I always felt the stingray neck to be thicker. Mind you I have never actually measured either. My experience would be dealing with instruments produced between 2006-2009. Probably no help to you here.

Stretching left hand over four frets? Really?

As much as I tried to keep my thumb centered in relation to my fretting hand it always seemed to move towards the head stock. I finally stopped worrying about this and just play. I would consider my fingers shorter than normal and have no problems with the 4 per fret stretch. Funny as I...

    I have a Sterling...Am I stupid to get a 'Sterling' ?

Sounds Logical, I only played with a SB for a few minutes 2 weeks ago, pretty solid instrument at that price point. No risk with that

    Mesa Boogie Pricing help? (Canada)

Not sure if you pay PST tax from the US, I know you pay GST and 0 Duty (US made) For the record my example included freight and brokerage charges.

    Mesa Boogie Pricing help? (Canada)

I'm also thinking of buying a Mesa product, I just did a quick comparison on buying here in Canada vs USA, I could pay 1752.00 CDN for a certain product or 1496.00, CDN from the US. As much as I want to support the local economy, this is just too much of a gap to cover. I do expect to pay a...

Bongo 5 HS 60 cycle hum

I am not sure, but I do not think there is a dummy coil on the Bongo HS, is it just not a silent circuit wired in? Sounds more enviromental as noted.

Hanging a bass/guitar on a wall hanger - Bad for neck?

You probaly won't like this, I always store my bass in its case when not being used. Not sure about your truss rod issue, I have read that it is not suggested that you hang neck-through basses on wall hangers. No idea if that is myth or truth.

    58 year old rocker

I second this statement, I have one of the new light rigs, running 2 - 8" speakers at 4 ohms (300 watts) I run the VT pedal into the return and bypass the amps preamp. I feel I get a pretty solid "vintage type tone" from such a small set up. I just got back into it years ago,if someone told me I...

Genz Benz GBE1200 Tube Channel Problem - RESOLVED IN 15 MIN!

I had problems actually find any CAIG products up here, but did find out that Peavey has a spray which is made by them. It is identified in the fine print as de-oxit, and worked like a charm. If anyone is interested I can grab the product or SN # for future needs.

Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 w/8" extension cab

I have the 3.0 with both 8" cabs. If your not too concerned with extreme Volume (as is) its a great play. I run a VT pedal sometimes and can't believe the tone out of this MICRO stack.
