Anyone own or have used one of these? I'd like to go to an all tube amp but can't afford an AMPEG CL or any high priced amp. I've heard some goods things and they are in my price range. I always liked Peavey products but not sure about this one.

It sounds like your main axe is the 4 - string. I can tell you that before i went to a five string i really loved my Ampeg B115.Not so much tho w/ the 5 string.

Peavey makes several decent mid priced basses. I recently bought a 5 string Washburn (Force 5) for $475.00 new. If the 4 string version is equal then you will be impressed ( just make sure you go to heavier guage strings).

A while back i went on a similar quest to find a great REASONABLY priced bass cabinet. Keep in mind that i've played thru some decent cabs (Ampeg, Peavey,Fender,ect.) The more i researched, asked advice, studied spec.sheets and prices, i kept coming back to the Kustom Deep End 410 cab.Boy was...

First set of D'addario half rounds.Used to soak my roundwounds in denatured alcohol or sometimes just boil them in H20.How bout the half wounds and flats? Same thing ok for these?Ithink they last longer so it won't be needed as often.

i used to boil my strings just once before buying a new set.active electronics may play into this discussion as well. i found that the strings i was using (mostly ghs) would retain their brightness for almost as long as it took for them to go "dead " in the first place. go figure!
