I'd get the purple mirror, cause I am biased towards mirror pickguard. But I think the black/silver paisley would match your black satin bass.

I like the 50's P look for collection but for gigging I'd go with the standard P with mirror pickguards. Tried a Yamaha Pulser, was impressed with the compressed tight tone. Want to try an Atkinson now, for the price and the custom specs, it's hard to beat.

Wow, I'd start with a MIA Deluxe P probably custom to a Jazz width neck and 24 frets and vice versa for Jazz Bass. A Kubicki factor with big flamed maple top, delicious! And lastly, I'd like to go for a Conklin! :)

I like it to have 24 frets although I rarely, rarely go up till 24th fret cause of the space and ease to move about around 20-21st fret. :)

I just tried a couple of Fender Jazz basses recently, MIA 60's, MIJ special and MIM. They are not like what I'd expect from the most sought after brand. The MIA 60's jbass felt a little chunky and uncomfortable. The pickups were noisy! The sound was OKAY but it gets lost easily in the mix...

I owned it for a while just to start off with a six stringer. I didn't like the string spacings. The neck seemed too flat for me, wide but flat. When setup nicely, it plays fine. Maybe you should wait till you have enough for a SR506, instead of buying a GIO.
