Zjon's Guitarstore had their first batch already sold out when I asked about it in early January, so you'll definitely need to put in a preorder at a shop to be able to get one this year

Those who have Dingwalls with these string retainers, do you have to thread your string through it? Or is it shaped more like a hook?

Our band plays in drop-D#0 but personally I'm really a fan of how my Dingwall sounds without the bridge cables :) I use the standard Dingwall 45-130 nickel plated set and apart from being like excellently cooked spaghetti it kills it both live and in studio

While we're talking about pickups, what's the technical difference between the "Neck" and "Middle"-style pickups? Are they reverse wound or something?

That's what the D-Roc has in its second position. I didn't really care for that tone tbh

On the NG3 the middle pickup is wired in parallel internally to make the bridge+middle position more balanced. On the D-Roc the neck pickup is wired in parallel internally to make the all-three-on setting more balanced.

Phew, I've been away from this forum for a long time and also recently realized that I've been banned from the Dingwall Facebook group for something like 2 years now for some reason. I just thought that somebody shut the group down but apparently that isn't the case. Anyway, can you guys give...

It does the job but I'm not entirely happy with just that compressor. I highly dislike the automatic gain compensation and the snap it introduces even at fastest compression speeds, but below 12 o'clock it's fine. I've gigged and rehearsed with just the MTI for the last year and mostly I've just...

I might be in the minority here, but especially with the SJ body shape I feel like the 3 pickup look doesn't fit the bass at all. To me those three big soapbar-style pickup covers all together really mess with the lines of the body.

There was an older Voodoo Prima with Cello hip for sale in the Netherlands for I think 2300€ about a year ago... I had just placed an order for my D-Roc Standard and that one hurt

This year apparently, basses that have arrived to dealers during and after summer are made in China.

I had the opportunity to do a setup for a Chinese D-Roc 5 today, and I can confirm that it doesn't differ from my Korean one in any way related to quality. The only difference I could spot is that the fret slots are sawn through and then the edges are filled, while on the Korean one the...

It's official, Darkglass advertises it on their social medias from time to time. Last time today with the shirt drop. No fake site would be sellings shirts that are 36€ + VAT a piece

I also use the B7K as the last overdrive in the chain on which I stack all the other drives. The B7K is a very transparent and clear drive so it takes all kinds of overdrives well, all the while keeping the tone airy and bright. Personally I use the Ibanez PD7 and Way Huge Pork & Pickle in front...

Okay, that's interesting! Thanks for the information. Dingwall has been tweaking their designs little by little over the years of production so I shouldn't have been so surprised by this. :) My bad!

I don't think that's realistic. Why would you commission a prototype for a bass from a different factory than the one you're looking to produce the final product? Especially this close to the release, it doesn't ring true to me

It's a super wide angle lens which distorts the image by a ton at the edges which this was. It's probably the same thickness as with the NG3 and Combustion, wouldn't really make sense to make it thicker.

Interesting that even though the import Super PJ has a pickguard the jack is mounted into the body. I guess this is how the domestic versions are as well?

Curious that they moved the production back to China. I mean, it makes sense to have all your production in a single place but I really liked the small touches they gave the D-Roc 5 in Korea versus the MIC 4-strings

Thank you! The new record is great, I'm willing to give it a chance to let it grow on me. Definitely their best since Altered State. Wish they'd have better bass tones on the record though, Amos is pretty buried in the mix.

When I started in my new job last spring, I noticed that we had a USB -> 9V pedal power adapter in our catalog which immediately sparked a ton of ideas for videos, but today I can finally share the first one! Tesseract released a new album yesterday and I did a cover of the opening track...

Tesseract released a new album with the track "Natural Disaster" on it and I had the wild idea to film a video for it in a nature reserve near me, so I tuned my D-Roc Standard back to Drop-A and off we went. Amazingly the Dingwall strings I put on before the shoot are still like new while before...

Yeah it's not horrible, but combined with the shipping costs and longer delivery times it makes it quite unappealing  That being said I used to pay a lot more for the DRs I used to use for my 5-string since I had to buy those as singles :bag: More than 80€ per set before the artist...

So that would be +20 dollars on international shipping, +24% VAT +2.7% customs duty for musical instruments and accessories in Finland = 185$. Other nordic countries I believe have similar VAT rates, varying by just few percent

I don't know about the others, but I used to use Skull Strings about 5 years ago but had to stop when I received multiple dead strings in a row :/ I've heard from others as well that they had issues with DOA strings at the time, no idea if they've fixed it yet.

Don't like Elixirs on bass unfortunately, I exclusively use the Optiwebs for guitar but Nanowebs take away this initial attack on the string that I'm really fond of. Thanks for the advice though! Hahah, no worries I didn't take that too seriously! Gift packages are also a risk I wouldn't like...

I've been ordering Dingwall strings thru Thomann, but I don't think they carry Paysons right? Or any other multiscale string outside Dingwalls for that matter

Thanks, but you're not in EU though. Buying strings from the US and having to work with the Finnish customs is not what I'd consider "easily available". Seems that Bassdirect also doesn't ship to Finland, so I'm out of luck. I'll need to stick with DRs for the time being. I'm actually just...

I've been trying to find good, cheap and easily available strings for my D-Roc 5 for ages now but a few weeks back I bought a few extra Dingwall B-strings from a local who had accidentally bought 5-string sets for their 4-strings. I had gotten a few extra 4-string sets when I bought my D-Roc 4...

They actually explicitly mentioned that the Infinity and Photon are already utilizing their full DSP so a chorus will not be a thing on those pedals.

Official Darkglass Club: Welcome to the Darkside

With the B7K the attack is actually boosted in the middle position so no, there's not that much 2.5 kHz boost baked into the distortion circuit. The switch positions go CUT/BOOST/FLAT from down to up, while with the grunt switch they are RAW/THIN/FAT so you're actually also cutting out the bass.

The biggest differences between a Combustion and a D-Roc will come down to the pickup switch and the pickup placement. The pickup switch is easy to replace, you can buy a new switch from Dingwall preconfigured for either the 3X (Combustion) or the D-Roc switching and just replace the wires. Then...

I can't believe I forgot this, the weight is a huge factor. My Sunburst D-Roc is the lightest of all my basses – and I have a short scale Mustang in the collection. I don't own a scale, but the D-Roc weights the same as my Squier Affinity strat (which has a thinner body than a normal strat), so...

It's not at all bad in your lap. I spend most of my time playing it in a sitting position with a pick and nothing really comes in my way. The arched body design really makes all the difference here compared to some firebirds and explorers I've tried before. If you haven't played one of these...
