man you can´t go wrong with the retro preamp it´s great very tranparent i have audere it´s good but really don´t like very much the presets sounds but it sounds good...my vote is to east pre they are great i got two of them the j-retro and the u-retro deluxe 5 kobs....AWESOME

norstrand is great but sadowsky tone is lovely amazing

aeros are great just my sound can be agressive or nice vintage...fralins are good even better if they have 5% more wiring...my vote is for aeros great lows powerfull mids agressive higs just great

man the nordstrand and the east pre is a killer combination it´s so powerfull you will be extremely happy with that bartilini CB MM are good but nordstrand 4.2 has more precense really great pickups and east pre make even better NORDSTRAND-EAST thats the combo bro

between bartolini and nordstrand i prefeer nordstrand the low-mids are huge for me nice clear powerfull sound i love my 4.2 and man it can sound very varm or really hi-fi...the bartolini CB series are the best on the bartolini pickups galery but i keep on nordstrand by the way mine is wired...

very personal opinion i preffer lakland darryl jones lakland joe osbourne or sadowsky...better sound feel and construction i had fender american deluxe and a marcus miller 5 strings but i sold ithem when my darryl jones arrive and moddify my lakland 4-94 fender wasn´t my sound...

ja ja ja i got that problem but it was to dark but the problem was that i wasn´t using the tone control mid-frec and the eq in the correct settings retro is great but you have to study all the knobs very well....audere is a really good pre but retro has more color

the retro pre works great both both styles slaps and fingerstyle the mid-frec is very use full for finger style if you want abig deep bass sound or a growly thin sound...the brigth pull knob is awesome for slaps sound sharp and loud

j-retro u-retro...i have the u retro 5 knobs deluxe and belive me it´s incredible first i get confused but when i understand it it´s a monster it´s great and make my nordstrands pickups sounds just like i want.....i highly recommend it

i really prefeer the dual coils quads are great for versatility but dual have better output and sound for my opinion nordstrand´s are more traditional sounding they are great powered on the low-mids bartolini CX or CB or delano are more hi-fi more acentuatted on the high-mids

iown a 4-94 with nordies they are great pickups i wish they were more hi-fi but still they are great

man a true single coil will have some noise but thats the way a single sounds i like the marcus pickups sound but i prefeer aero singles or fralin 5% extra wiring both are killer pickups but noisy...maeby a good shielding work could reduce the enoying sound

i really really prefeer the nordstrand 4.2 dual coil in my opinion the third coil takes output i tried them but the 4.2 gives me more power and to me is better sounding

duncans are not bad..but i prefer the sound of the nordstrand or delano...bartolini CB are great too

man i have two things to say to you 1. DELANO (a hi-fi sounding great modern sound good lows impressive slaps) 2. NORDSTRAND (mid-lows muscle just a little bit dark but just a bit with a turn of your pre you can make it sound as you want)

i think the SE version rocks!!!! they are just great i love it....i got one on my 4-94´s neck but for a jj i preffer single coils thats the true jj sound i love aero´s singles fralinds are great and are better with the 5%n more winnding

delano of course...and if you don´t want to pay to much aero jazz they are agressive but still nice detail basslines are ok buy delano or aero are just incredible...if you want something more warm i recommend fralin
