For the guitar yes, but the bass is usually playing on the downbeat with the drums.

Breathing new life into my Squier.

Does anyone know of any guides for installing LEDs in a bass? I'm sure I could figure out how to put them in, but I'm trying to figure out the power source.

    Bass Names

I would never name any of my basses, but my friend does. His Squier is named Ulrick and his Fender Special is named Basscalibur XD

Breathing new life into my Squier.

I've found some guides. The typical time it seems like is about 2 hours to get the frets off, 2 hours of sanding, time for the filer to dry, then another 2 hours of sanding. I would totally do it.

That is a nice color. Why are you on a dock? Are you perhaps a fellow sailor? :D

Breathing new life into my Squier.

Firstly, I already have what I want, my Stingray. Secondly, no one is going to pay any substantial amount of money for a used 2007 Squier. Thirdly, you don't mod something because you don't like it, you mod something to make it unique or create a new use for something that would otherwise just...

Breathing new life into my Squier.

I love these ideas. I'd love to do this too, but how would I go about doing that? I assume I would need a new neck, bridge, and pickups but after all that it probably would be a lot cheaper and easier to just buy a 5-string bass. Keep 'em coming, guys.

Breathing new life into my Squier.

I know there are probably countless threads on this topic, so I apologize. So, I'm left with the familiar dilemma of what to do with my learning instrument, a Squier P-bass. I was hoping that you guys could help me add to the list of possibilities for breathing some new life or unique usage...

Tanara. My friend has one. It's the only one I've ever seen. It looks like a black and red p-bass.

    Bass guitars are really ugly.

Oh god. My eyes! Seriously? I do like the look of T-birds quite a lot, actually. I never said I don't like the looks of ALL basses, just most. Stop putting words in my mouth, people.

    Bass guitars are really ugly.

These do not look the same. You got me on that Les Paul bass. It may quite possibly be my next bass. It depends on how it feels though, as with my Stingray I'll take feel and sound over looks anyday. Link Removed

    Bass guitars are really ugly.

It's nice to be agreed with, but I really don't find the look of that bass appealing either. It's far from ugly, that wood grain definitely looks nice, but I don't find it especially beautiful either.

I promise I'm not trying to troll you guys. I've made posts here before, I've contributed to TB appropriately, and this is the way I genuinely feel. Go ahead and read my posts. Some examples of color schemes I find ugly. read my posts Invalid Link Removed Invalid Link Removed...

    Bass guitars are really ugly.

Am I the only one that finds most basses horrendously ugly? All these basses that people post here as being beautiful I find to be either really gaudy or lame. Take the colors a Fender P-Bass Special/Delixe come in for example. Red with gold pickguard? Ewww. I own a P-bass and a Stingray...

You guys are probably right. I'd be better off with a combo amp. So, if not a half-stack, what are some good combo amps in my price range? That Fender Bassman 150 is looking like a pretty good option right now.

I'm sure I could get a nice combo amp like a Bassman 150 and be perfectly happy with it. I'm just thinking as big as a half-stack because of the long run. It's the same reason I got a Stingray. So many people buy a lot of midrange basses and equipment between their starter and their "someday...

Oh no, 1x15 is perfect. Thanks for the input. I can't believe I never even considered just leaving it at home, although it depends which school I go to and how far I am from home. One of the things I find appealing at one of the colleges I'm applying to is that each dorm building has a...

I'll be heading off to college within the next year and want recommendations for a new amp. Right now all I've got is a little Fender Rumble 15 practice amp and I want something that will not only do my new Stingray justice but also will be jamable, gigable, and space-efficient. This is because...

If I can't affor an Deluxe P but want a good bass

When shopping for a new bass I played a Laguna that sounded like a bass twice the price. Really punchy and trebly, would be good for RHCP stuff. Check them out.

So what makes a bass the body or the neck??

    Neither. The electronics.

Get into the groove, man. Also, a large part of it is learning to translate your thoughts to your fingers. When you hear the tune in your head, make it heard through the speakers.

    School Bass ($600)

I very much like the idea of buying Squiers P and J standards so that the program can have a few basses. That's a much nobler idea than blowing it on just the bass of your preference.

Any acoustic basses with a decent neck?

Michael Kelly acoustic basses are awesome. Pretty much every other acoustic bass I've played was super quiet and buzzed like hell. I like Fireflies, Dragonflies, and Club Customs, but since you specifically mention the neck, I'd definitely say you're gonna love that "Michael Kelly Custom Deluz x...
