I played one yesterday at a shop and hated it! it felt like I was in a battle with the neck and it had no energy in the body. The things they put it through to make it all "worn" rob the energy from the wood. Sucks imho. Buy a Lakland and you'll never look back, best basses you can buy.

Its a Ashdown Classic 810, sweet cab! handwired in Britain. I have a Classic 115 and its a thick sounding cab.

I have a 362 (the cheaper of the models). I think it really adds a lot of tonal options. And it really rounds out the sound. I would say go for it, I think any of the models would work great.

I Am a avid fan of Lakland, the basses are Amazing and it is a great company to work with. Plus you can order an oval pickguard from Jeanies that looks a lot like a Ray. Just for Looks.

No I'm not building but that is a really cool Idea!, But would it interfere with the Pickups?

The finish on the bass is important to me to keep on, so take the into consideration.

Is there a way to mount a pickguard with no Screws? Like with a certain kind of tape. I just don't want to drill holes in the body because I might be changing the kind of pickguard style in the future.

I would get a new straplock system all together, because Im not one to risk the life of one of my basses to "rigged" equipment, like using parts from different locks. But...The toothpick thing works really well.
