    410 + 115 question

Yeah we had kind of got away from the OP. I agree that his proposed setup would not work well at all (especially with the amp turned up loud).

    410 + 115 question

Point taken, but I was talking about the hearing aspect of it. I just don't much point in talking about audio without any hearing involved in this context. Its about making a tone that will sound good to listeners. If you prefer the sound of a 4x10 + 1x15 and don't care about anything...

Worst beating any of your gear has taken?

Earlier this year I was loading up my car to head of to rehearsal. I was carrying my bass and pushing my amp along, got to the car and set the bass down to load the amp in. I then proceeded to get into the car and pull out of the parking space. I felt the car go over something and heard a...

Levon Helm. The man is a master of the backbeat and playing 'loose' (in a good way).

New six string... In need of advice/opinions

I own the Cort A6 and am quite fond of it. I got it used with EMG pickups in it and have never heard one with Barts. Its a great bass IMO though, especially for the price.

    Drop D... the point?

There are some songs where you kind of need to play the low D on an open string in order to reach the rest of the notes. It's been a long time since I played it, but I seem to remember 'By the Way' by the chili peppers being like this.

    Any nylon tapewound fans?

I have the Fender nylon tapewounds on my fretless and I think they have a great feel and tone. They have been on the bass for almost 3 years and aside from the loss of brightness after a they were a few weeks old, they haven't really changed at all. Does anyone else notice though, that a lot...

Are you looking foward to the new U2 album ?

Not a fan of their music at all personally. It always kind of bugged me that the guitarist is called 'The Edge'. I'm not sure of the reasoning behind it, but it just seems to me that if you're gonna call yourself something like you better be one hell of a guitar player (e.g. I think Slash can...

a good thing about rock band/guitar hero...

My biggest problem with these games is that there isn't enough emphasis on proper timing; you either get full points for hitting the note close to where it should be or no points at all for being drastically off (you can get a perfect score on a song while having a pretty sloppy rhythm). I...

    Lets talk WARWICK ROCKBASS

The only thing I don't like about my Corvette Rockbass fretless is the ugly, cheap looking headstock. Other than that it is extremely comfortable and I get complements on its sound whenever I play it.

The stage was soooo small...(how small was it?)

Played one small town bar that actually had a reasonably sized stage. However they requested that we play beside the bar to be closer to everybody and I ended up in a posistion with about 2 feet in front of my amp to work with. Every time the waitress went from behind the bar to a customer I...

    Fretless Strings

I have them on a fretless and they produce a pretty neat sound that I am fond of. They have a fairly crisp, hollow sound to them and when you EQ some low-end thump in they sound great. They also have their own 'mwah' sound of the string vibrating against the fretboard that is distinct from...

    Blisters!

Hasn't happened to me in a while, but what did you guys do if you got one during a long gig? I would keep it unless it got so big that I couldn't play with it. It would be quite painful playing after popping a large blister though on that finger.

    what to expect?

I'm in a blues band, and once played a gig in a bit of a hick town where we were told by someone that if we didn't play Johnny Cash or Elvis they were going to leave. If you play well there's always gonna be at least some people that are liking it, so just play for them and don't worry about...

Its taken a while for the low B, how long for lower?

With all the talk about these low frequencies I can't help thinking about the (probably) mythological brown note. Personally I hardly ever use anything below the D on my B string so I can't see myself ever using an F#, but I'm sure their popularity will grow. I don't think it will ever be as...
