    cab for VOX foundation bass

Hi guys! I got myself this VOX bass head, and I would like to make a custom box for it (original one is with two 15" and heavy as hell), if possible - with one 12", or 15" but strong and loud speaker. I want it to be as light as can be, still good enough to handle 200w - as rated on amp, and...

Roland Cube 60 guitar amp for bass?

Simple question, can I use this Roland Cube (60w) guitar amp for bass guitar? I can get it cheap, and I need small amp for traveling... I've tried it, and it sounds good, but can I do any harm to it, since - there is a bass cube (eureka)?

Trouble with Pyramid Strings/ Hofner Icon

It is the gauge problem, I assume... THe feel of the Pyramid Gold's is incredible, but they are just too boomy, and the E string on both sets I've tried was sustainless as piece of rope... I use Chromes, and they are "singers". Also tried Thomastik - great strings. There are always Hofner...

Identify this Fender bass head, please

I can't find this one anywhere on the web (via google). It would be quite expensive for me to call California from E.Europe... Owner would give it for 130 euros... 160$ app. I will be in his town on a gig in 2 weeks... and if it's still there, I'll take a look. Do you think that this (if...

(For Hofner experts) Is this the real deal?!

Thanks guys, for your quick reply... It's price is 600 euros, so it's not like THE deal of decade, but it's still almost 3 times cheaper than the new one... I'll buy it, if it works well and have no hidden faults... Thanks again...

(For Hofner experts) Is this the real deal?!

Hi guys, This guitar is for sale in my town, but I was suspicious about it's origins... specialy for logo. I can see that the teacup knobs are new (because of color), and that the tuners are Fender-like, pickups seems fine, binding also, tailpiece could be good... but I've never seen such...

Does older wood really sound better? and how long does it take?

If the guitar is played and maintained carefuly for 30-40 years, and still works perfectly... it is something you can rely on... and it's obviusly a good piece of wood... the years will tell... Thats why we all love Fenders so much... plain and simple... and always ready to play...

    Right-handed player playing reverse (left-handed)?!

For a very particular reason, I want to learn to play bass like a lefty... and I'm righthanded... Sure it sounds odd, but I guess there are lefthanded people who learned to play righthanded basses with their opposite hand... (they often write with their right hand, so...) One of my basses is...

    What are pickup covers for?

    Beatle bass?

This statement have nothing to do with bass playing! I have both German Hofner and Icon B-bass... german hofner is better crafted, but chinese one is THE REAL VIOLIN BASS... sounds just as it should, and plays fantastic... + it looks good! So, i could say... GO FOR IT! It's about 5 times...

    Lead Singer/Guitarists vs Lead Singer/Bassists

McCartney was the first to put a bass line in-line with melody... singin' and groovin'! And what a singing... It is always interesting when you deal with the melody & bassline in the same head :) I never realy liked singers who can't play any instrument... than again, can't understand the...

Why do bassists like CBS basses but guitarists hate CBS guitars?

Well, a dozen people here said that they have MARVELOUS piece of CBS Fender... and none of them said that they have a crappy one... Is it subjective feeling, or maybe they are not so RARE (or as said "diamonds in the rough")?! I have a '77. and a '78. Precisions... and they work for me...

There is an obvious problem with D string in that "Beatle bass" Pyramids... I broke it 3 times already! Maybe just my sets... but I'm not an idiot, who brakes strings playing the Beatles (as something gentle)! Thank you for your replies, I'll sure try something else... though I spent whole...

Hi I have a problem with my Beatle bass... It's a short scale that should be strung with flats... the kind of strings I can't buy in my city! Hofner Icon vs. Contemporary

I must say I never played CT, but did few vintage Hofners, and I have ICON... it's the same idea, same sound, same features as german Hofner, and it's about 7-8 times cheaper... maybe CT looks more like a german Hof, ICON is not bad looking either! And still 2 times cheaper than CT!!! Enough...

Help me choose a P pickup for a custom built bass

Have you heard DiMarzzio's model P? I have it in one of my P's, and it's great... and it's 70's P bass! The "colour" of tone is the same as on Fender pickup (stock one for that bass), but have more "mass" and edge... also, have a same old BITE when you push it hard, as true Fender should...

    flatwound shortscale problem

Thanks for answers! @jambassist I have PYRAMIDS GOLD, but it's not easy to get... I want to cut short the LONG SCALE strings, to Hofner's scale! @Diogenes Thanks man, I'll sure try that... I can buy 2 sets of Fender's flats for the price of PYRAMIDS! And it's much easier to get longscale...

    flatwound shortscale problem

Hi guys! I have a problem stringing my Hofner violin bass... As I live in 3rd world country, I can't just order strings online, and sometimes I must wait for a month to get new ones... Can I just cut short these 34" scale strings to my size? Is it possible to make them fit my bass somehow?

Oh, finally... thank you for answers guys. I'm gonna try it anyway, in some way... some day :bassist: @senorblues 3 way switch is not something that will do the job for me... I need a blend, for pickup "panorama", so I can make the SOUND all along the way of middle position (middle of 3way...

PJ Bass rewiring (with DiMarzio PUs)

Hi guys! I have a Pbass '78. with P+J config. of DiMarzio's model P and model J. Since they are wired with each own volume pot (with s/p switching), and single tone pot (this is "meant to be - config.), there is no way to get a blended - "mixed" (P+J) sound easy (I need to adjust volume knobs...

Who makes the best Beatle Bass? (That's relatively cheap!)

I play McCartney in the Beatles tribute, and having a Hofner violin '67.-'68. and one Icon for backup. I've also played Contemporary series, and it's not that close to original sound as Icon, more solidbody sound... but the look is amazing, better than old Hofner. Also played Turser... Icon...

do defretted fret-lines intonate same way as lines on stock fretless?

Or, I can just scratch the PRECISION part :smug: Try to make a task for violinist... to play some classical tune halfstep flat/sharp, just to see what he/she has to say! It's just a muscular memory (his/her "perfect" pitch)!

do defretted fret-lines intonate same way as lines on stock fretless?

Yes, it sounds realy stupid:D But, what can I do? It's a Fender Precision Bass guitar, that will be defretted... is it now something else? This one stands... I just wanted to know, is there any differences between lines on fretless bass, and fretslots on defretted one.

do defretted fret-lines intonate same way as lines on stock fretless?

Thanx for answers... That's cool, me too... but I had a medium scale (unlined) fretless (handmade), about 32", this Precision is 34" (yes, not only this one:D). It's not my ears that bothers me, I was just wondering, since (as I said earlier) I've never played lined-34" scale fretless...

do defretted fret-lines intonate same way as lines on stock fretless?

Same Q as in title... I never played fretless precision, but thinking of defretting one. So, does "defretted lines" intonate same way as meant-to-be fretless lines, on precision bass exact, or it's useless way to catch the note?
