Am I getting old, or does '~$3000' + 'just for fun' + 'I'm 16' + 'first band' seems a crazy combination. I've been playing bass for years and never spent that kind of cash on an amp. Maybe I'm just jealous ;)

Not quite sure what it equates to over in the states, but I have an RBX374 and only paid £150 new for it. You can get a new one now for about £220 (things are getting expensive at the mo') Seems a lot for what it is. (It's a great bass by the way)

I figured out what was making the noise. It's the sound of my E string hitting the exposed metal of the pickup under the string. The pickup is quite high and unlike my previous bass, has 4 metal circles (one for each string) on top. I generally play directly over the neck pickup, so I'm gonna...

I don't know about 6 options, I always put people into one of 2 categories: Bra Strappers (high) and Jock Strappers (low) :D As for me, I pull the strap shorter for more complex lines and lower the strap a bit for the faster picked ones. That works for me.

I just realised that before I sold all my effects, I was running a small amount of compression on my behringer v-amp. He has only commented since I got rid of the effects. Can't wait to have a play around with the settings on sunday.... As for the slap in church comment, yeah I get to play lots...

FWIW. I'm using a Yamaha RBX374 and you're right, It has quite a low action and the pickups are quite high. The DI is behringer one. It has a DB Pad control, but I've left it at 0DB (rather than -10 or -20). Also, I do play with my master volume on the bass at about 3/4.... I'll try plugging in...

Email Ashdown directly. I sent them an email about how to get hold of a 4-way footswitch and they said that they should be available directly from their online shop and that it would be added to the shop ASAP. I'm sure they would sell you one directly.
