My new ESP I got.. Well it used actually.. Its new to me. It has some really old strings (the red silk is almost entirely worn off) and they sound AMAZING! They still have their zing to 'em. I have no idea what strings they are.. I know they aren't Roto Swing because they seem to be nickel...

I was wondering if I could lather some cooking oil on my strings to make it easier to slide? They are Roto flats, Monel.. Would this damage the string in any way?

Most likely Rotosounds. Although I like dead strings.. Never clean em.. Got gunk and grease and sweat all over.. And I use Flats.. Even deader.. But yeah.. Rotos probably. And you says Rotos only have silk on one end.. Mine have silk (Jazz 77s) on both ends? Even when I used Swing Bass they...

I know how to string a bass.. I played guitar before I started bass and so I put them on like a guitar.. I'll put my strings on however the hell I want to.. Don't like it? It ain't your bass... :D

I'm switching back to heavy strings and I looked and I was wondering if there was a cheap 55-75-95-115 set? If so can I have a link... I usually tune down a half a step and use fuzz frequently but for my clean sound I want a really deep bassy sound. :bassist:

I have two questions regarding a 1989 Peavey Fury. 1. How close is it to sounding like a Fender P? What are the similarities? In your opinion which one do you prefer? 2. Where can I get a new pickguard for it? 3. Thats actually four questions. :D

I got a P Bass with light gauge flatwounds. Boost the mids. Turn tone all the way up. Hit the strings HARD up near the neck. Sounds damn close!
