psssssst. in all due respect, the 'godfather of bass amplification' hype is getting a bit old. i've long been aware of Mssr's Allee and Gerst's contributions, and revere them highly, but in some wierd way, when you mention them, it somehow 'cheapens' it.

Gee, Johnk_10.......... I don't know what to say to you.

Russ called me today around 1:30 we had a beautiful wonderful talk for around 18 minutes. He's going to send me new schematics and plans for more speaker designs for our R and D department to build for testing.

I'm sorry you feel involved in this all and have the need to Vomit.

good for you. how long will it take to get the new speaker cabs UL approved? (that's a joke in case you didn't know).

I'm sorry you feel involved in this all and have the need to Vomit.

after reading your posts George, you'll have to get in line.;)

Could you tell us some more about the improvements you've made to the original design? I'm not in the know on the legal particulars, so I have no idea whether or not you're allowed to tell us, but a few bullet points of what the "State of the art modern electric wonderment" actually is would be nice.

i have two very good friends in the boutique amplifier business. both of them make very high quality, hand wired tube amps in somewhat low numbers (and both amps are very well known). i worked with one of them at the company's inception, as a consultant on the first models being offered and their circuit design etc. while it can take a little time to get an UL approval, it really doesn't take that much time or money. so to me, this seems to be an excuse, and a dubious one at that.

If your product is reasonably safe - UL approval is basically a relatively low cost formality. Now, if there is something in your design they deem dangerous it might be different... but it's hard to believe in something like an amp that it would be an issue unless you ignored a lot of basic design safety.

Vetchking Here:

Spambot......... Email me or call......... I've posted all my contact info. I'll be glad to talk to you. I'm in Pa ESt Time Zone.

You'll enjoy the call.

aborgman: If you have a UL, ETL, trick please let us know.

Because our Global ETL, seals are pushing $30,000.00.

The big UGH here is everytime you call them they say,...

You have to do this and that. and by the way....... That's not in the Quote.

So, any help is appreciated.

Later

As much as I love hearing all I can about the new 360, which I will add, I'm stills super excited about even after all this time, I'm amazed this thread hasn't been shut down. Hopefully things will simmer down a bit so if there is any new info or pics to be posted, they CAN be posted in the new 360 forum. I would hate for thsi thread to be closed.

It's easy. Once your product meets UL codes you should have approval relatively shortly - and I'd call $30k on the cheap end. In general anything UL will ding you for is something that shouldn't even be designed. If you've got your paperwork in order and your check in the mail it's generally a formality though.

If it's taking more than a year to get UL approval, and they're requiring you to make design changes - the design wasn't anywhere near ready to go up for UL approval.

Come on TB cats -lets be cool:). I have used Acoustic amps since 1970...I used to tour with a 360 and 2 361 cabs with a 3rd as back-up( never needed it).I became very interested when I first heard of VetchKing and what eventually became GPG Acoustic USA ...and his plans about 6 or 7 years ago on ressurrecting/updating the Acoustic line ...and then becoming even more excited when Russ Allee and Harvey Gerst joined the team. I have spoke to him for hours on the phone since then. He has put his heart and soul into this project. I have known two other individuals who started up an amplifier company in my life, and its not an easy process-both of them almost lost everything (they did lose thier wife and kids to divorce over thier dreams), they had to work night and day ...turning thier dream into a reality...at the same time trying to work a regular job making a living, pouring every penny and investment they have into thier dream....just as George has done. I know that this process has been a particularly "Sticky Wicket" with the difficulties in buying the rights , name ,etc of the former Acoustic Corp. as well as now being under the "GC Umbrella" ...and to confuse it all, there are two Acoustic Brands-the other being made in China.
:rollno: But as for this thread...it seems like its becoming a little harsh on Vetchking. Thats different from honest and respectful comment/disagreement. Come on TB brothers. Lets let the news come out, and not get this thread closed. George(VetchKing) is a real person who has real feelings too. As you can see he will respond to questions when asked on this thread...maybe he'd respond even more with a less hostile tone. Or as he suggests...call him if you want specific answers...he'll actually answer the phone and talk to you as long as you want . I don't think he wants to give out too much info on the web in some areas to his competition just before his amps come out, but yes -they are updated versions of the old Acoustic line...more powerful, more versitile, more toneful, more everything...but still built like a tank. I for one am planning on getting one of his new amps when they come out, even though I have'nt got to try one out yet!! I have read reviews by others that I respect who have actually been to PA and tried out his 360/361, his mini 361( with a 15' instead of and 18" speaker) the 10" speaker version of the 361, the 410 cab and 210 cabs...I am eagerly awaiting more news from VetchKing...thanks for responding. Peace...DAcat

Interesting observation. Similarly, Henry Ford might be considered the Godfather of american automobile manufacturing. Ford motor company nerly went bankrupt because H. Ford did not want to introduce anything beyond the model T. More forward thinkers pushed the model A into production, essentially savng Ford.

If the model T were still available today, I wouldn't buy one as anything except a novelty.

After reading this thread in a little greater detail, It appears that the "new" acoustic 360 is just that. A new design. Or at least a significant refinement. All other things aside, it will be interesting to get to see/play one of these.

Amazing that building basses on your mother's kitchen table with mail ordered All Parts necks and bodies qualifies you to judge Vetchking's Company. Do you have "UL" approval? Vetchkings only mistake was announcing a TIME and not delivering. If you worked in a factory "setting" as a technician or engineer then you'd know how hard it is to get UL, CE, CSA approval and how hard it is to source parts in the current economy.
The President of Acoustic is taking “flak” due to his mistake of prematurely announcing the release of the new 360. It is not ready for shipment and now he’s under attack and these geeks are insulting the designer of it, Russ Allee who is on par with Norm Sundholm and other pioneers…like Leo Fender, though not quite as big as him.TB’ers like Markbass, Ampeg, and other boutique amps…here’s a pix of what one single 360 can do…2 words, “bad ass”!! so the new 360 should Eclipse this. go ahead and flame/cuss me out.
Peace and happiness to all

i have worked as a technician in a factory setting for years, and its not difficult toget a UL approval.
.................and now he’s under attack and these geeks are insulting the designer of it.........................
i never 'attacked the designers. can you read?
.........…here’s a pix of what one single 360 can do…2 words, “bad ass”!!
how a picture of an acoustic 360 could give any idea of how an amp sounds is beyond me?

so the new 360 should Eclipse this.
your assumption, but if you say so, i guess that it's true. :rollno:

so i guess that being a friend and consultant to Leo Fender, as well as Ibanez, Samick, and designing the BC Rich Mockingbird in 1975 doesn't account for anything.
you should try basing your thoughts on knowledge and experience, instead of emotion and assumptions for a change. ;)
