Greetings ambient/post rock heads… I’m not a poster here, but I should be since the music I play is on the spectrum. Maybe I’m daunted by getting caught up through 1100 posts, maybe also by how good you guys are.

Anyway, just wanted to FYI you all that I posted a Sequential Take 5 in the Classifieds - Other Stuff.

Had time to kill on the bus this morning and watched a 23 part tutorial series on the Rossum Assimil8or for some reason. Now I totally get why it’s a fairly expensive module. That thing is insane

Just jump right in to the music and music-adjacent discussion. No need to get caught up on too much of the history.
duke loves the octatrack and might be the most active gigging regular.
steubig has a Fodera collection for making microtonal music.
ugly likes self oscillating mixers, memes, and hip hop.
I make puns and dad jokes.

Somewhat germane: Last night I watched "The Hitman's Bodyguard" on a cable TV station that apparently doesn't like Samuel L. Jackson's favorite utterance (the one that rhymes with "brothertrucker") but instead of bleeping it out they just inserted silence...so the entire movie soundtrack ended up sounding like it had been run through one of those granular Chase Bliss delay pedals with the Modifier set to Dropper.

Thank you for the summary... Such love in the post. How can I resist. Really, my main obstacle is my struggles with software based apps. I'm pretty old school in that I like my devises to be analogue, and have knobs I can turn. But, I will start pressing the link to this thread and conversation and perhaps begin getting outside my comfort zone.

You will fit right in. Next time you are frustrated with an app, @uglybassplayer will introduce you to the science of wall punching.

In local news, today I got the modular back out, and put away the Hapax. Now we will see if I miss the Hapax because I definitely missed the modular. I will just use MIDI tape recorder for MIDI looping should the need arise. I think my brain works more like the Vector Sequencer than the Hapax.
