Okay then where is the F-ing BOOM is coming from?

Why is the BOOM in both the 210s and 215s even when the 215s are NOT in the cabinet?

I even tried changing the separation and mass of the subs to No Avail.

The F Bomb is still Going BOOM!!!

Look we have stated what we think and you have said you don't believe us and proposed and experiment to prove what you believe. IMHO since you have disassembled the cab, there is really nothing more you can do, so you should drop the matter until you can get the components you need to run your experiments. Otherwise people are just going to continue telling you what you don't want to hear.

My question is what will you do if the boom is still there without the crossover?
 
I don’t mean to pile on, but from reading the whole thread the following myths keep getting repeated by the OP.

The idea of 15’s for bass, and 10s are for mids.
The circuit board is somehow effecting the resonance despite it simply being a solder point to make a clean parallel connection. It also happens to be where the crossover is soldered on.
Eq shouldn’t be subtractive.
You can make a silk purse from a sows ear.

If Agedhorse posts something about amplifier or transducer design, you can take that to the bank my friend.

-Do you know what the terms FOH and PA mean and know their role in live music events?

-As others have said, the crossover you have has nothing at all to do with the 10” or 15” drivers. It is only for the tweeter. Period.

-Perhaps the reason the cab is no longer manufactured might have something to do with it’s a lousy cab?

You sure showed us then. Guess we’re not needed then. But I do rekon’ that big set up pictured is still high-passed between 60Hz and 80Hz.

I like the Isovent, I intend on getting it Dialed In the way I wanted it, and I am Keeping It.

It is just a matter of figuriing out and separating what Needs to be done from what Doesn't Need to be done, and then getting it Done

This has got to be one of the most amazing circular discussions I’ve ever seen in this forum. o_O

with all due respect I'm pretty sure none of us can solve your resistance to reality. i hope you cross that bridge and join us. it's much simpler and i haven't disassembled any cabs today

If you use regular 440hz tuning it can be very unhealthy

Best to use 432hz, much more healthier

440hz was established back when they were trying to 2 concerts in a day. They could fit in a afternoon matinee by tuning to 440hz as the music was faster. It gave musicians longer breaks between shows. It's just unhealthy. Gave people heart attacks. The even let people smoke in concert halls back in the day when 440hz was picked. Bass players smoked cigars and pipes.

Re-tune to a new pitch and "F" will no longer be your problem.

We are not actually here to solve your problems, but many of us have told you the problem is not one part or one aspect, but the entire cabinet.

The IsoVent experiment was interesting, but it was basically misplaced and deemed a failure to Ampeg. There is no technical "fix" ... Ampeg's fix for it was to discontinue it and relegate it to a footnote in their product engineering history.

If you really want to keep going and the only thing that bothers you is that F note, the frequency for that F above the low E is around 44Hz. Put the control plate back together, then buy or find a parametric EQ rack unit to run between the SVP and the power amp. Dial in 44Hz on the frequency knob, and then use the boost/cut control to cut it by 12 or more dB. Just rip that frequency right out. If you like it, then you've essentially "fixed" it for you. Put a dab of glue on the para-EQ controls so they never move and throw it into your rack as a dedicated processor for that speaker.

Done.

With all due respect, I am going to take the Jack Plate and Schematic Diagram to a friend, and while I am at work doing my job, have him ReWire the Jack Plate minus the Crossover Circuit Board, and see what this does.

What you all have said is the Crossover is NOT part of the equation, when the 210s and 215s are connected to the Crossover Board, but at least this way we can fully Exclude the Crossover Circuit Board.

If this Does NOT Solve the problem, then I will see what I learn, and reconsider the problem.

Anyway Thanks for all of your help in this matter, anyway as far as it went, and thanks for the Good Humor along the way.

I hope you all realize I was chuckling as the bantering went back and forth and I was only being funny and meant nothing by it.

Maybe the plywood (if used) has separated or has voids. Or a glue joint has come undone.
It is not that funky crossover.
 
To bring this back to reality for a sec, 88Hz is probably more likely the problem frequency than 44, and 132 is also a possibility.
But what am I thinking honestly...

True... he could get a multi-frequency unit and play with various frequencies and notch them out. That should keep him busy long enough to put an end to this thread... ;-)

I don't know.

Something is causing the F Bomb and I am curious to know what it is.

I will cross that bridge when I get to it.
