Hi all. Just wondering if anyone has come across a PCB or build instructions for a Dwarfcraft Devices Ghost Fax?

Is it the same layout at the plumes?

the only physical difference, as far as I know, is the extra resistor in series with C9; other than that, it's just component value changes.



@karter2000 — I'm not sure exactly how to proceed on the PB-LOoMs hybrid, but here's what I'm thinking for mine:
Some things may not be worth switching out, such as the gain pot, B1M vs A1M.
I'll just try them both and see where I prefer to put the sweet spot of the rotation. No switching it.

4PDT ON-ON toggle to swap out:

POLE 1 — R2 & C1 can be swapped out together as one.
POLE 2 — C4 & R6 can also be swapped out as a unit.
POLE 3 — C5
POLE 4 — C6​

The 1k in series with C9: leave it in, all the time, no switching it. It will then be more Blumes-like, or one could skip adding the 1k and the pedal will be a smidge more Plumes-like. I'm willing to bet it'll be hard to tell if this 1k makes much of a difference on its own.
Breadboard it and see which is preferable.

I was thinking of just using a larger enclosure and having a Plumes and a Blumes in the same box. Footswitch for bypass and another to select the circuit you want. Then you can have different settings for each

Labelling is stamped and filled.
And yes, the DC label does say "9W". It was late and I was 2 beers in when I mistakenly grabbed the W instead of V.

Awesome, thank you! I never thought of doing it this way. I even happen to have a 4PDT in my stuff.

Unfortunately not, as it's a complex pedal and mostly digital. The chip in the bottom right corner is an embedded PIC microchip that is likely used for the majority of the digital signal processing. Probably has proprietary code on it as well.

I built this one too (but not boxed up yet). What a great pedal, the pickup sim is MVP.

Thanks. I'm really digging it. It's pretty rad.
I don't think I would've done this build without the pickup sim.
I've gone through about a half dozen enclosures before nailing the stamping. Gotta give thanks to this thread for enlightening me on using a steel block under the box while stamping. Changed everything.

Is that pinkish colour of the enclosure real, or just a trick of the light? It's quite cool.

The "9W" is just to confuse your enemies.

I finished the lazy-man's version of the Blumes on my nearly-populated Plumes board tonight (not enclosed yet). From what I can tell, it sounds like the Blumes I tried at my local music store briefly. It basically sounds like a tube screamer with a big cap in the high pass filter section of the feedback loop. Would explain all the gain that everyone is hearing. I don't mind the gain myself, although I do like Mode 2 (no diodes I'm guessing). It reminds me of the Comp Cut mode on the Fulltone Bassdrive I used to have.

Edit: I didn't bother with the 1k in series with C9.

Switchable fuzz between Germanium and Silicon transistors .
For the Germanium I used a 2N1308 and for the Silicon I used BC108b.
It can do everything from sputtery and gated to smooth.
I like the fact that there a separate bass and treb controls. Sounds great to me.
