Anyone else totally happy with their basses?

I am like that happily married man that still likes to look luckily my bass (like my wife) understands and enjoys the company. For me it is my long time companion and main squeeze 1982 Carvin LB50 Koa.

I have a Stingray 5HH, an L-2500, a Precision V, and a complete Franken Jazz that sounds fantastic. I'm kind of interested in trying a 5-string semihollow or hollowbody because it would be a great fit for one of the groups I play with and I might be tempted by the right Bongo (might, as in only if it's something VERY specific). However, I have great basses and I'm very happy with them. I'm not actively looking to replace any of them.

And, if I found myself in a situation where I needed to sell off bass gear, I could be completely satisfied with my Stingray.

My main band player is an Ibanez ATK 300 and I am pretty damn happy with it and have been for years. I only recently realized how much I loved it and how much I really didn't NEED another main player or try to find another band bass. It just works for me. And it's unique. I still lust after certain basses but overall, I'd be fine with using my ATK for the rest of my life with most bands.

However, I do play my P at home almost every day. And I plan on getting a beastly Jazz soon, hopefully. Just to have a nice, rounded arsenal. But if I don't, I don't. It't not the end of the world.

I am completely happy as well. Hollowbody Hofner with flats / AV '63 P Bass with Jamerson Flats / Yamaha BB5000 with rounds for everything else. Don't even spend time in the bass classifieds any more. Now the pedal classifieds - well that's a different story.

After lots and lots and lots of flipping and one fairly major overhaul on one bass, I am very close to perfectly happy, but I always second-guess myself - GAS for a classic, or jonesing for a scale switchup, that kind of thing. I miss a few that I have sold cause I may or may not find the magic with again were I to get another of the same model. But right now, I am pretty happy.

Yep, I am very happy with my current bass inventory and rig. Only keeping my custom Roscoe LG3005 and Fender Jazz Deluxe 5, everything else is being sold since the GAS big has left me, at least for now.

I'm happy I learned early on which basses I like best, I've tried other brands along the way, but always come back to my Ibby SRs. Still - someday I might get another G&L, and the upcoming NAMM thread always causes a substantial amount of GAS.

For the first time in my life I'm at a point where I don't want to buy any more basses.

It doesn't mean that other basses don't appeal to me - I saw on FB that Carey Nordstrand is doing a small run of Nordy nP4s and I'd love one. And the new Stingray Specials look/sound/feel great. But I won't be getting either because I have everything I need.

Honestly it's kind of a weird feeling. I think I've always looked at my basses and thought if only it was lighter, or punchier or had a different neck profile or was a different color etc. But now after years and years I don't have any complaints.

Now I just need to practice/gig more.

How about you? Where are you at in your journey to find the perfect bass or basses for you?

Happy with one: 1983 Ibanez Musician 924DS P/J.

Passive/active 3 band eq, 24 frets, 1.5" nut width, dead ground wounds still with a little spank left in them and a high-mass bridge with a bit of foam.

Kinda heavy (around 9 lbs) but with a 4" wide padded strap, it works out fine. Stored in a blonde Fender repro case.

Pick or pluck, with the 3 band eq and a Bro-ton always on HPF, I can beat any rig into submission.

I have a John Kallas P bass on order to join my Sandberg jazz bass, one round wound and one flat wound. Also two uprights, a blonde and a brunette. Just need to add a redhead!
