Dukes a prince. I just received my Birdhaus 4x6 back from him after he installed the "magic switch" the cabinet was completely re sprayed with a coat of new Duratex. This guys the best.

My yard looks kinda like that, except on a smaller scale. No submerged cars... yet. Two more days of rain forecast, so it'll probably get worse before it gets better.

It's been chilly too. Overnight last night I had to get up several times to chip sheets of ice off our heat pump (combination central heater/central air conditioner), so that it could have the airflow it needs.

The combination of rain and cold has derailed parts of my production line. If the temperature is too low and/or the humidity too high, Duratex won't dry properly. Well I found out the hard way the same thing applies to wood glue - I glued up a couple of cabinets but the glue dried light-colored and almost powdery, so those are going in the landfill. Fortunately tomorrow it should be warm enough for me to run my tablesaw - when it gets too cold, the grease that lubricates the electric motors in power tools becomes too thick to do its job and the motors burn up. In some ways the cold was actually less of an issue when I lived in Idaho - I had a warm enough room to work in. Here in Texas, my "workshop" where I cut plywood is an open-air carport (which hasn't flooded yet).

Fortunately I have a couple of cabinets far enough along to keep me busy during the weather thing, and I have crossovers to build, so I'm still moving ahead, just not on as many fronts as I'd like.

that sounds brutal. my father was a USN lifer, 24 years. he said in the northern pacific off korean peninsula they called that " 30/30 weather " - 30 degrees coming at you at 30 knots.

Well, Duke, I do hope the weather gives you guys a break down there. Glad to hear you’re not letting it bring everything to a standstill. I’ll say a prayer that “The creek don’t rise anymore” for everybody getting flooded down you’re way.
Perhaps if we stop calling it global warming and call it something else the name stigma can change.
I’m going to name it, “Global Weather Reapportionment” since it seems rather than overall warming we are experiencing weather not commonly seen locally in places it’s not historically expected.

I sure do hope I get a chance to hear some of these wonderful tools someday soon! I gotta get out more.

We’re in Mineral Wells, west of Duke. Now that we’ve finally got power again, I can report that the rain gauge topped out at six inches for the last few days, although we’ve gotten rid of the last of the ice.

...and meanwhile here in Québec, we've had temperatures above the freezing point all week and some (non-freezing) rain. The snow is pretty much all gone and it feels like April.

Yeah we lost power several times, and lost internet for a long time. Actually we weren't supposed to get power back for another hour or so but I guess they got done quick. Or maybe I better hurry up and post this before it goes off again!

So thirty nice new cardboard boxes were delivered yesterday, and I met the driver and hustled them into the safety of my high-and-dry carport... which flooded overnight last night! I had brought three boxes inside, one for a Hathor 1203 and two to be sandwiched together for a Changeling 115. The other twenty-seven boxes are now in a recycling bin. Fortunately money grows on trees and since time is money it grows on trees too...

Well at least none of my plywood got wet so I can go back to making sawdust. By tomorrow I can probably start Duratexing again.

I did some gigging up there north of you way back when in Williams Lake during a balmy sub-zero January.
The cold is not good for U-Haul trucks, Moog synthesizers, guitar necks or glue! ( as Duke has explained in earlier post!)

Got the Mesa D800+ and the only concern seems to be that it runs 800w even when there's just one cabinet plugged in at 4ohms. Strangely, the volume is lower than similar settings on the 500w Markbass.

Taper on the pots might be different. Knob position is not necessarily indicative of how loud an amp will go.

On the Mesa amp (though I've not played it), as on many other solid-state amps with a "2 Ohm" switch on the back, you can set the switch in the 2 Ohm position even when running at 4 or 8 Ohms -- you'll limit the amp to a little less power, if you want that for safety, and might change the feel a bit, too (at least that's the way it works out on my GBE 1200).

As with any amp, pay attention to your cab for signs of strain.
