That would be truly hot Vision! And it would also be more unique than the Natural you were thinking of. You should seriously consider it, IMO.

+1...ever since I saw the pics of that trans red LM5 from NAMM I've been thinking about other trans color options - I love how you can still see all of the beautiful ash grain but the blue is very unique. I really think it would look good with the vintage tint/gloss finish neck. I'll give Jimmy a call this week to see if it's possible!

Trans anything looks GREAT with a maple neck IMO. That blue is beautiful! I like trans orange too:D

Well, I finally have a semi-decent pic of my KPB-5. I snapped the pic right before the first service this morning - it sounded great (even through the GK combo).

The first pic is the bass, the second is a comparison pic that Jimmy sent me - the other two bodies are Ice Blue Metallic.

Beautiful. That board looks amazing!

Hey Yohann, are you saying that Miko bought the green RA?

If so, Wow , very cool

Hey Guys,
I had another fun day hanging at the shop yesterday. I decided to get the BadAss V installed on my RA5 and I couldn't be happier! I feel it completes the bass, giving me the low end depth and focus I was looking for - I feel it's in a nice midpoint from an Ash body bass. I am really a fan of the bridge now and will most likely have it on my upcoming LM5.

And being the true pro he is, Jimmy even rounded off the top back part of the bridge so I don't accidentally cut myself on it. I think it also helps not make it look like it's running of the body.

And TB'er Miko Espanol got himself another fine instrument last night... Here's a fun pic of the "Weird Color Bass Club".

Orange Crush & The Green Goblin (as I like to call them):

;) These A-C's have just ruined me regarding other basses, even very fine ones like the Nordstrands or F's. Just personal choice. Cool when an instrument speaks to you completely (much less an entire line of instruments... LG, LM, etc.), but of course, that's a totally personal thing, as I'm sure many love their F's and Nordy's and Sadowsky's as much as I love my A-C's. The 'orange bomber' Sadowsky stays though... killer in a different way:bassist:
if youre looking to dump the f, you might get a hold of erich (gruuv). he was somewhat interested if i decided to flip mine.

Jimmy won't do a CAOJ finish with a maple board, that's what I originally wanted
Are you sure you're not getting the model confused with the color? Did you ask him for a CAOJ LG with a maple board? I don't think he'd do that 'cause a maple board'd LG would blur product lines, but he's obviously done at least one RA in CAOJ/maple, and I can't imagine he wouldn't also paint an LM in CAOJ if that's what the customer wanted.

I ordered my LM4 originally in blonde with white blocks and binding, then when I saw the CAOJ (when it first came out) call him back to change it (since he hadn't started on the build yet). I wanted CAOJ LM with maple board and white blocks and binding.

My three thoughts when watching that video:
  1. Now that is a big guy
  2. I need to go practice
  3. But, then again, what really is the utility of being able to play like that?
I must be getting old. Really great tone, though!

Good one.... I actually looked up the company that makes that bass and according to the website, the body is downsized quite a bit..... and I guess being built like a Jets linebacker doesn't help either....

That is mind blowing. I'm amazed he'd refuse a customer a color choice. That just doesn't sound like the Jimmy I know. Wow. Don't get me wrong, I don't have any reason to doubt your word... just don't know why he'd do that. Well, anyway, he's over it now I guess. :)

CelinderMotoMan, did you ask him for a matching headstock with the maple board? I know there are only certain colors Jimmy likes doing that on. Maybe there was a confusion or miscommunication there when you asked... Iono, just a theory.

That IS what it was, he said he only does matching headstocks on rosewood boards. I remember now, there was an upcharge for the metallic finish.

I talked to Jimmy today about my order, I'm gonna go with all the new features he's doing now, and he gave me the thumbs up on switching from natural to trans blue:
