I've only been playing at this church for a few months, and I'm adjusting to playing with three guitar players and with a completely different style of music. In urban Gospel the bass line is usually a counter melody groove that drives the entire song. With this contemporary Christian music style though, the bass parts are usually repeated quarter notes or whole notes with the guitars driving the songs. So I am playing WAY more simple and without the licks that I would normally be doing. As you mentioned, this matters with the tone as well because the zingy, bright, grindy tone that I normally prefer would clash a bit with all the guitar that's in the mix.

(although its hard to tell for sure unless you are hearing it out front at the venue)

Mitch.. You beat me to it.. I was going to say that.. You would really have to hear what the FOH is sounding like..It may be completely different than what you heard on the vid... from my experience when we do live Vids or broadcast.. there is separate FOH engineer and Video Sound engineer... I know not all churches or gigs have that luxury..... What sounds good in FOH is not what always sound good in the Video or recording consoles and Visa Vera...

So I give Vision a two thumbs ups for playing the right parts for the gig.

I saw him playing a BN5 on the tonight show for awhile, and Invalid Link Removed. And Invalid Link Removed, and here he is playing a Fender, so I guess he likes lots of flavors. :)

I just spoke with him on the phone an hour ago. He seems like a really cool guy. Whoever gets that bass should be very happy.

Don't know why some can't read the pic he posted from Jimmy's site. It popped up fine on my end:

It's a standard, entry-level model, so definitely Indian Rosewood and not Dalbergia Negra, polyurethane finish, 34" scale with 19mm spacing (I believe this is standard for AC), hipshot bridge, parchment 3 ply pick guard.

All that said I REALLY wish I could swing it!

I see you can repeat specs fairly well but you are missing a few tid bits of info.
The bass that I sold last year was a KBP5 , also Piano Black, RW fingerboard -- (originally Indian RW then Jimmy made me a custom cut Dalebergia RW neck to replace the Indian RW one. ) Mine also had a Parchment Guard, and was a NAMM show bass since it was the first one made by Jimmy. ..with the same OLD Style headstock as shown in the photo, and not the updated one that is now standard. Apparently they were identical originally .
And my bass was on the Alleva Website since it was the first KBP5 made. Then later more photos were shot of the bass by Rick for the sites archive of basses.

Mine originally had the prototype Bent Plate which i later replaced before sale with the Hipshot "B" style. My bass also had the Universal body route to accommodate different pickup position to prototype new stuff for Jimmy. Im seems that you weren't aware of that, so i figured i will help you out with Alleva history since you are so well versed. Dont want you to leave anything out..
So maybe now you can understand why i would ask if it was my bass that is up for sale.

If that is the case with the upgraded board, shouldn't the bass be worth more? Someone should tell the seller

Well it depends..
If you know anything about resale.. It has NOTHING To do with what something is worth... Its what you are willing to negotiate.

The same goes for gigging....Doesn't matter what you are worth. Its what they are willing to negotiate.

I have sold two Alleva Coppolo LG5 basses within the past year..
One I sold with the Dalbergia Negra FB and Nitro for only $2400 to a friend that had his bass stolen while on tour.. and the other one (DN. Nitro, matching Headstock) I Donated 100% to a worthy cause of someone that was in great need..

So just because it would have had a DN doesn't mean squat...
Its all perspective.. and why someone is willing to sell for a lower price... Am i that unique of a person to sell low?.. Dont think so..

That said elMon has to repeat over and over that it is an entry level model... Hope he feels better now.

The one that's for sale has a poly finish and an indian board according to the seller. He said he purchased it new from Jimmy -- So I don't think it's Kirk's old bass. Hope that helps.
