EDIT: I also mailed Jimmy a set of Dunlop dual strap locks and a set of DR Hi Beams...

To Vision..... the Duncan Dual straplocks and Hi Beams are a good idea (since I know you dig the Hi Beams in general, and they REALLY work on this bass spec). That way, it will be intonated and set-up right at the shop, and you won't have to unscrew the old style strap buttons and put on the Duncan's, which always makes me just a touch nervous with a brand new, expensive bass.

As it gets closer, just send that stuff to Jimmy.

+1...I didn't think this was a big deal, but this weekend I installed straplocks on the Brubaker Brute that I just bought, and even though using a screwdriver isn't a big deal, and that bass is way cheaper than the A/C, I still felt nervous about installing something on a brand new bass.

Exactly my thinking, I want it ready to go out of the box. I ordered them online and had them shipped directly to Jimmy. No extra cost or hastle on my end.

I always mix those names up (I fixed my post)... yes, The Dunlop model that looks like a traditional strap button. Great idea of direct shipping to him through Musician's Friend or whatever... you can send the Hi Beams and strap locks in the same shipment from the same source... easy! Cool!

Since Kirk has a pretty close and old connection to Jimmy I have this sneaking that the KBP is named after our friend Kirk Power.

What do you all have to say about it?

Even if you KBP theory is not true, I will choose to believe that it is true

I have no clue on the other names..... the theory that LG is 'Leo and George' would make sense to me, since that's Jimmy's 'pre CBS' sort of vibe.

LM.... 'Larry and Marcus'.... who knows (wasn't Larry's Moon bass a 70's spec instrument?)!

RA.... I have NO clue... no even a guess.

I read on a previous club thread that someone had made an attempt in the past but I couldn't find the exact post. But Jimmy relented that it was a pretty good guess, who knows what that means... I couldn't crack him when I was there.

LG= Like Grahams' bass, Larry Graham, Alder -Rosewood.

RA= Ruben's Axe, Ruben Rodriguez always had his vintage early 70's jazz bass worked on by Jimmy, its a 72 jazz with an Alder body, maple board with black blocks and black binding.

Hope I didn't start any trouble, cause I'm not the one to start rumors

Jimmy is big fan of Sly Stone, and in fact, anyone named Sly.
So you have two Sly Stone bassists:
LG = Larry Graham
RA = Rusty Allen
And one bassist in Sly Stallone's little known Funk band from the mid eighties, Sly and the Family Stallone, which featured Frank Stallone.
LM = Larry Murchuck
