Ok Ok.. It's not a new pic, but certainly one of my favorites. If I got a LM-5, it would look something like this, but with a maple board and B&B.......

Well, here is an update on my Oly White LG5. I got these pics two days ago and I didn't want to post them because they were taken under less than ideal lighting. But since people asked, I will throw them up.
The color looks a lot more yellow in these pics than it looks in person, but I think they look kinda cool...almost butterscotch.
I asked Jimmy to send me a couple better lit shots when it's fully assembled, which is what comes next in the process, so it won't be long now! peace

I can't wait to have that bass in my hands! Thanks for all the positive comments and 17 pages of fun. This club has some really great TB members.
In the meantime and speaking of vintage style basses...the Army Band I work for has some extra cash at the end of this fiscal year so I just got them to spring for a team built CS 64 Fender Jazz, which I'll be taking to the Middle East next year. Check it out!

For the Army Band bass, I initially wanted to get a Sad NYC, an AC, or a Nordy, but they only gave me one day to shop around since the money will disappear tomorrow. I couldn't find one of those builder's four stringers within the couple of hours I had to shop, so I settled on the Fender CS. It will be interesting to compare a team built CS fender with the AC.
Really though, I picked metallic burgundy cause I thought it would look wild to play when I'm in uniform! lol

A real beauty. Can't wait to see some more picks toward its completion and a review when its in your hands.
LOL. It really is as close to my "dream job" as I've been able find! I don't even mind the early wakeups and workouts and army stuff, except sometimes the beaurocracy drives me nuts.
But I gotta say, the Army Band has it's charm...I mean who doesn't love buying nice basses on Uncle Sam's dime?
Too bad I don't get to keep them basses!
I just checked out some of the repairs Jimmy has done in his shop.to say that he works magic is a real understatement..........
Also, there's a rumor going around that there's only enough Dalbergia Negra left to do ONE LAST BASS....Could this be true???

A lack of Dalbergia Negra doesn't bother me much...since that stuff is WAY outta my price range! I have decent basses that cost less than one of those fretboards!
A big gratz to anyone who managed to score one of those! I bet those basses seriously thump. Jimmy had told me that the Brazilian imparted a slightly darker/mellower presence to the bass, a la James Jamerson era. And that the Indian was a little more "burpy" in the mids, as was the Honduran.
Has anyone played them all on an AC and care to comment? Kirk?

Last weekend I saw Bob Cranshaw playing with Sonny Rollins at the Monterey Jazz Festival. I couldn't tell what he was playing and had the chance to walk up to him holding his five string Alleva Coppolo. Had a dark green finish and maple board. He sounded great!
This would be a great bass to see in this thread if someone has a photo of it?
