Genz Benz Shuttle Max 12

Tried getting one from the Classifieds.... Not a very inspiring experience.

So instead ordered one from Andrews Music in Texas - via ebay.

An incredible Price and a favourable ex rate... Would have been rude not to!

Well there's a number of reasons behind it

I'm used to the 3 separate FX loops that the Trace Provides - The SMAX has 3 too!
The Trace weight 23kgs - The GB is around 3-4kg!

I dunno what the Talk Bass policy is for listing prices of things - but the deal on the amp was a bit special. Marginally ($140) more than what was on offer 2nd hand. One was 2 years old, the other had been modded. So an extra $140 buys me brand new, a 3 year warranty and peace of mind.

I'll be running 2 x 8 Ohm cabs, so should, according to the GB manual, only realise about 750 watts out of the 1200 max.

I say only, but 750 should be PLENTY!! The Trace was rated at 2 x 500 watts @ 4 Ohms

If I piggy back the cabs out of one channel, I have 500 watts and a spare amp!!

Running a cab out of each gave 600w

So I'm up on power regardless.

Plus I LOVE the idea of the 3 tone shape controls off the Footswitch.

I change fingerstyle to slap, clean to crazy loads of times in a set (sometimes in a song) - That what you get when you cover and take inspiration from MUSE!

so with one stomp...
and theres all that mid scoop for slap

top end up & distortion on to melt face -

one more click.....
BOOM, Bottom end max'd out - reggae bass in yo FACE!!

I also use a Genz Benz Shuttle I've got the 6.0 2x10 "combo" version, with an added 12" cabinet (not Genz) underneath. It is a beautiful amp, capable of delivering most.
