I was just lucky that there was an older neck blank available. Theoretically an older neck will be more stable and I travel quite a bit with my bass, but due to the high quality of F Basses I don't think it's something to be concerned about.
Agreed. Between the cold of Eagle River and the heat of the Utah desert, and stops in between, my Fbasses are remarkably stable travelers.
 
Haven't had much cause to play the BN5 for a little bit, but picked it up again this week and fell in love all over again. Just a phenomenal instrument.

My BN5 is like that, as well. For no good reason, I'll go a stretch of time without playing it, and then I'll pick up and it's like DAYUM!!! :eek: :eek: :bassist: :bassist: :bassist: :cool:
