yep. And if I knew where to get one otherwise that was great, I would probably want to return this. But I chose pickguardian after a bunch of research, and then obviously came up short

also I will say, the tortoise on my white P5 that I just sadly let go of it was outstanding. I dunno where YJ gets his materials but it’s top shelf

As I explained a few post earlier, the pickguard on the Rootbeer P Classic 4 is a Fender not a Moollon.

PS, I emailed and sent pics, and he said that he must have mistakenly used the wrong tort material and that he'd recut me a new one at no cost with the brown more contrast-y tort. Which is cool. About the pickguard not matching up with the control plate edges, he just said "many times the beveled edges get smaller from sanding. There's no good way around it. If you loosen the control plate and mover it towards the guard, the flat part should match" :-/ I mean its too shy on both sides, so moving either side to be flush just means the other side is gonna get farther from flush. But whatevs.

I love the tort Moollon uses. Also, I absolutely love that rootbeer bass with the streaked fretboard. That bass is a looker to be sure.

I have wanted to order a Classic P for for awhile now, but have been very indecisive about the color. I had it down to Copper Gold and Root Beer sparkle.

I finally saw the Copper G on the FB page and like it, but have finally decided when Iam able to place an order thanks to the pictures y'all have posted I will go with Rootbeer with a Tort guard.

I also love the striped Macassar Ebony fingerboard, if Andi and YJ have some available will probably go that route.

My JV has pretty slinky action, but I've had to give it some love to get it there. I tried shimming the neck but didnt like where it put the string height over the body. So I basically have the saddles bottomed out, and had the frets leveled and now it has a nice Marcus'y feel and tone to it with low but not insanely low action. Caveat: my bass is older and has been around and changed hands a few times, so I cant say how it was originally ordered. My suggestion would be to put in your action request with the order and see if you can get it from the shop with a lower than average string action.

And +1 on the RBS with tort!

Yup. Just reach out to Andi. Have gotten a few over the last couple of years. Fairly priced.

Yes, as long as the guard on your Moollon is factory. Mine is one of the few that originally shipped without a guard, so theres no easy way to match the aftermarket one.

Thank you for the reply guys. I was hoping you could get a Moollon's action low. I plan on putting flats on and the music I would be playing with it wouldn't be fusion so I would be ok with the action slightly higher than my other basses. My boss took advantage of Covid pulled a fast one on us and sold the shop I worked at. When I am back in the land of the employed I will be messaging Andi.

I'd like to second what @J.Wolf said - and I followed essentially the same path with my P Classic IV.

First I shimmed the neck, which I didn't like. Then I leveled the frets (well, there was actually only one high fret), and lowered the saddles. Now the action is low and comfortable, but not absurdly low. Love this bass.

Might be wrong, but I’m gonna say there’s zero chance. YJ makes his own tuners and they are made to replicate vintage models down to the metallurgy.
