Crazy ex-girlfriend

For the thread, I'll tell a mild "brush with crazy gf" tale on myself:

It's my first job right out of college. It's a small company full of young people. A lot of us socialize and party together outside of working hours.

One day, I'm cruising down the hall to another division of the company looking for somebody to go out to lunch with. There doesn't seem to be the usual amount of milling around going on. I keep going toward the division chief's office. Then I see her. It's one of the secretaries. She's sitting on the floor underneath a reference table. She's been crying and her eye makeup is running down her face. She's not crying now but just sort of swaying back and forth in a semi-catatonic state. The division chief is quietly talking to her and trying to calm her down. She's not really responding. There's a couple of other people spectating. She just keeps swaying back and forth. An alarm goes off in my head and I get out of there.

Several days later, a bunch of people from the office are drinking together at a large table in a bar that was located close to the office (we called it the "5:01 Club"). This secretary was one of the people at the table and I was also sitting there next to my girlfriend. So, out of the blue, this secretary pipes up and says very loudly and clearly "So, Unprofessional, when are you going to get around to doing me?". The table just goes dead silent and everybody's wondering "Did she just say what I thought she just said?". After a few seconds pass, almost in unison, everybody at the table starts talking again as if nothing happened. The strangest part of the whole deal was that my girlfriend never said a word to me about it.

This same secretary later broke up a co-worker's marriage. I bet she's "crazy with papers" by now.

We had one of those here too, a female salesperson.

We used to give an 'aptitude' test to potential hires, it measured certain indices of personality. Caliper, I think it was.

Anyway, she blows the test away, 10 out of 10. She gets hired and she has mad sales skills. This woman can sell icecubes to the Inuit at the Mid-winter Glacier Fest in Thule Greenland.

One day I come back from lunch and her head is on her desk, sobbing, make-up all runny. Meltdown. Something with the husband. A few days later she is in the lunch room, curled up into fetal position on the floor. For 2 hours.

We haven't hired in a while, but the lesson there was if they score off the chart, they are so unbalanced that they are on the verge of insanity.

We had another guy come through here. I don't want to use his name but let's call him Crazy Dog. This guy would sit in his cubicle and stare at you all day. Whenever he talked to you he'd have to touch or poke you. One day he related a story about how he got kicked out his gun club for using loads that were too hot and put a round through the back cinder block wall of the range. He eventually left, but when he did, I watched the back door of the office for about a week. The guy said he had a disassembled Thompson machine gun in his safety deposit box, or so he claimed. Anyway, the guy was a loose cannon, for sure.

This thread is full of so much awesome. I don't have any real noteworthy crazy GF stories to talk about. I can usually spot crazy women pretty easily so I put a stop to things before they get out of control. I did meet a girl about two years ago who got way too clingy way too quickly. She also had an uncanny way of pushing my buttons. I don't get upset about too much, but every conversation we had left me pissed off, which was a feeling I didn't like at all.

However, my father knew a guy who was constantly sick. He had no idea why he always felt blah. Well, it turns out that his wife was purposefully putting some sort of poison in his breakfast everyday. Yeah, they're not married anymore.

Well there was this girl I dated once that was way too clingy way too quickly.

Instant puppy-like love + meeting her parent on the first and only date was a little awkward.

I don't think she was crazy tho, just not that sharp and very naive. But she was a redhead so I might of dodged a bullet there.

That was the epitome of bad dates, I should write it up sometime.

Talking about weird co-workers, there was this one dude who worked at a company I used to work for. We were all in open, but separated cubicles. One day, I was walking by to talk to a co-worker in another group. As I'm walking by, I see him staring at his computer screen for an extended period of time. This would be, otherwise normal, but his screen was off as in CRT monitor off.

I did it again - midday bang.

I don't feel that guilty, except I am enabling the rise and fall of our relationship by doing this. The fundamental differences won't just go away though.

Ya gotta get some in the meantime.

I banged my ex a few times after we split up.

Or not, as the case may be. Do what you feel best about, but leave the self-incrimination behind. There's no point to it, kinda like a snake eating it's own tail.

I worked in a factory making leather belts and purses in the early 70's. This was at a time when most of the young women wore jeans and sneakers and not too much makeup. This young women starts working there who is extremely well endowed to say the least. She always wore lots of makeup and extremely tight short skirts. She would sit in the break area during lunch and read "The Happy Hooker". I was very young and she terrified me so I kept away from her.

Sounds like one of those "if I knew then what I know now" moments.

Is the crazy redhead thing common or more of a myth? I LOVE redheads, though I've never dated one. My dream girl would definitely be a redhead, without the crazy of course if it exists :)

No such thing as a redhead without the crazy.

In my experience, ALL women are crazy. It's just a matter of finding the type and level of crazy that you can live with.
