Took the w/e off pretty much, caulked some siding, washed the skylights, went the the bassment (yuku.com) gtg, saw some bass bros, drove the 97 Saab 900 convertible with my shades on, and an Outback hat and the top down, mowed the lawn, did my laundry, vacuumed half the house, ran to the hardware store twice, now back to work in a few hours. I'm kind of sleepless and tired.

I wrote a letter, not an email, a real letter, to a lost friend. With a real stamp plus an antique stamp to boot. When was the last time you got a real letter from a friend?

Sent some FB messages, reactivated my old account after 2 years, no less.

FM, great shot. Wistful on one level, free and easy on another.

Feels good to get all that stuff done though, right?

Our big project is to get the garage suitable for making a recording space. We cleaned it out at the beginning of summer, but have yet to get back in there and organize. :rolleyes:

I think there are lots of people here who are still relatively new to playing bass and who all have a lot to learn. Include me in that group. It's been a couple of years now but I'm miles and miles from being good. But getting up and playing for other people is way more fun than playing alone. When you are playing and people start dancing it's a real blast.

Don't be shy. Have fun. Learn. Improve and most importantly, share.

Look, it's also entertainment. Fake it till you make it. Learn to play the part. Mistakes are going to happen everyday...it's no big deal. Just keep playing, and act like you meant to do it and it was the coolest thing ever. We are not machines and we will make mistakes, that's part of being human...and its also why I like a live drummer better than a drum machine. The drum machine can be perfect, but when you or a live drummer screw up, it can turn into something way better.
People will be there to have fun, not to see the bass player, anyway.

99% of people wont notice your mistakes anyway.
Someone has something in their signature along the lines of, if you knew how little people actually thought of what they thought you, you wouldn't care what they thought.
Ugh...that's a pretty bad relay of it, but hopefully the idea comes through.

I tell the guys this -

If I make a mistake, we can all laugh, but first you have to convince me it's a mistake. Secondly, if I know I goofed, I play it a second time before they make "the face." The rule is - screw up once, it's a mistake, repeat the screwup and it's a new arrangement.

I'm just kidding about that, really. I'd love to get some feedback from other bass players. Just gotta get that garage organized! We have too much stuff and not enough space for it. :p

Fixed it for ya'. ;)

My instructor is primarily a jazz player so I use that one all the time with him. He laughs, but I know he also wants to strangle me when I say that. But he also knows I'm only busting his stones.
