It's a little odd seeing you and hearing your voice. For so long you've been this mythical bass string sage that only existed on the internet through the written word.
They feel pretty similar to the Pro-Steels on the surface. The the extra flexibility reduces the surface effect.
Yeah, it's odd seeing and hearing me too... There is a video for ProSteels and La Bella RX Stainless strings that will be added shortly as well.
bunkaroo - You are welcome! I am not really a pick player but I hope that gave you what a pick player needed to hear. These strings share the same 37" winding as the new length ProSteels so you should be fine.
Duckwater - hair stylist was out yesterday sorry![]()
Good question - I'd like to know this as well.
I was all set to order up a set of EXL170-6 Nickel Rounds for my fretless but these are intriguing. I'm OK with the flexibility - I liked the TI's I played - but even with a Dymondwood fingerboard I don't think I want a rough-textured string.
Is the Nickel Round B tapered? It doesn't look like it to me but I have a lot to learn... Either way I'm OK with that string - what would a tapered B bring to the party and when is 'soon' ?
I'll want to have a new set on and ready to go (and a spare set in the bag) when I head off to Bass Boot Camp at the end of February...

Cool thanks again! Looking forward to trying them.
BTW are you going to be at NAMM? I will be out there this weekend - would be cool to meet you!
Good video, great slapmaybe get someone else to do the picking
And for the first time in 15 years I actually like the sound of something D'Addario makes.
Thank you for the comparison at the end I thought the FlexSteels and RX Stainless sounded great the ProSteel :scowl:why do so many people use those things:scowl:
I don't suppose you would want to be awesome and use a 5-string for your demos to show us B-strings would ya?
Any thoughts on how these might compare to Lo Riders?
Thanks, Jason! I'll probably try these out on my next string order, and wouldn't have even considered them if you hadn't taken the time to do this demo.
Yes singles will be coming soon! It took a couple of months after the balanced tension sets came out to release the .067 .107 and .160 singles.
Jason - here's the question I need to ask: will it come in a 130 taperwound like the Prosteel single?
I'm really psyched as I've been using Prosteels exclusively for quite a while now!
Jason great demo I really do like em but they are a tad courser in texture to me
From what I hear, singles are in the works. It may be a bit (like 3-4 months) but it is something that is in the works.
So until they are actually released I do not know what will actually be available. Any info I get I will post in this thread.
Oh well :-/ We will see what else is being released at NAMM on Thursday / Friday!
A 6-string would work just fine its the B-string that seems to be the "dud" in most sets.Sigh... I only have 6-Strings or 4-Strings at the moment... Well a 5-String Mikro but that doesn't count as it is super short... I'll be trying out on my Ken Smith 6-String soon. Actually I do have some MTD Kingston basses, Maybe I can use one as a shop demo![]()
