Dean Q4 w/Bartolinis, $132.99 84% Off

Yes, I emailed him when this deal was available, telling him that he might have a hard time selling it right now, and giving him the link. He replied that that wasn`t the Bart model, I didn`t know what I was talking about, and basically mind my own business. He now has the link in his ad, since it`s back up > $500.

He changed it.

"Dean Edge 4 string bass with Bartolini active pickups. Quilt Maple Top Basswood Body, Tiger Eye finish. 34" Scale Maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, abalone dot inlays. This thing looks and plays great. Black hardware, Grover Tuners. Active EQ Pickups uses a 9 volt battery to power the pickups.

Currently selling on Amazon for $519... http://www.amazon.com/Dean-Guitar-4-String-Bartolini-Pickups/dp/B00095OAB6

A search of recent EBay completed listings shows that zero of these have sold. Like many, I had planned to "flip" mine but there doesn't seem to be any point. I'm cancelling it - hopefully this will open mine up to someone who wants to buy and keep it.

BTW - Amazon says "this item will be available after December 25"

Don't plan on flipping brands like Dean or all these other marginal brands that show up on Amazon. It makes no difference if they're good basses or not, they just don't sell. You might be able to move one here, because people buy stuff here that won't sell anywhere else for prices nobody else will pay, but other than that, forget it.

You can luck out once in a while and find your boy, and I have, but profitably reselling anything but a handful of brands and models is tough in most markets. I've been buying and selling and flipping gear for over forty years and this doesn't change much.

I didn't order this to resell, because I know I can't, I got it because it had Bartolinis and I thought it'd be a cheap way to give them a try. Nothing else looked attractive to me about the deal.

You could probably sell the Barts easier and for more by themselves rather than stuck in the bass. "Bartolini pickups for sale ! Buy now and get... a free bass!"

Just for the heck of it I emailed Amazon Customer Service to ask about the status...The reply...

"Hello,

I'm sorry we are unable to be more precise about the availability of Dean Edge Bass Guitar. The message you received from us reflects the best information from suppliers we have at this time. I realize this has caused you inconvenience, and I hope you will accept my apologies."

Anyway, I guess I expected them to say it was dead. But, it didn't happen. A good sign? Who knows? The journey continues....
