Do you have epoxied pu covers? Or can they slide off the magnets? I believe Sheldon can make the pu shells available, if I’m not mistaken, or he can send them to Nordstrand.

You should opt for 19mm lefty spacing. They can do exposed coils, or hidden.

I honestly couldn't tell you. They are FD3s of the small, rounded model, in a 2014 built bass IIRC. They have the big Dingwall branding rather than the discrete corner branding.

At the moment I'm waiting on a reply form Carey Nordstrand on the status of what pickups he has that will fit Dingwalls. I should think that s/p switches can be used but I'll have to refer you to their support contact on that. They are great to work with.

I'll let you know more as I do.

All Nordy's have exposed poles so there's that Mo.

I just heard back from Carey and they are still working on the Big Blades. Sheldon's been very busy and they've let it slide. He said he'd look further into it today.

Under these Dingwall shells lurk a Nordstrand NP-4a and Big Split. :cool:

With those criteria, I would even look into Super Fatties. Have you checked out the demos on the Dingwall site for comparison?

I have, yes. However, they don't demonstrate what's most important to me; how they sound together. :)

As I have three pickups, I need to know how they will play together.

Out of the clips, I could see myself going with two Super Fatties as Bridge and Middle, and possibly a P-tone in Neck.

I've now moved the new (series wired) pickup in my NG-2 to the neck spot, and put in the existing two in the middle/bridge position, but with the former bridge pickup in the middle. The 3x Instructions were clear that there would be problems otherwise. Holy moly. The neck pickup in series sounds so good... with a pick and a hint of overdrive this is one of the best punk P-Bass tones I've ever heard.

I guess I pulled out a cable somewhere while stuffing in all the cables and the DG electronic back into the cavitiy... in passive mode everything sounds awesome, but when I activate the active electronics, the volume drops considerately and a loud hissing sound (that can be EQ'ed with the onboard knobs) appears. I'll check all the cables and solderpoints later, but if someone has encountered this and can point me in the correct direction, that'd be much appreciated :)

Super Fatties definitely have got some midrange growl and a more tame top end

Does your AB have coil tap switches?

I leave both pickups with the coils in series mode most of the time on my passive ABZ. Just the bit of extra fatness I was missing, but sometimes putting one or the other back into parallel is just the "special sauce" I need.

For my 2016 ABHS [Edit] 6 string, I bought the Dingwall shells and had them ship directly to Mo's Shop, and they put custom made Jazz bars under the 6 string OEM covers. For my AB II 5 string (2004), standard Nordstrand jazz "soap bar" pickups fit perfectly. No Dingwall pup covers needed.

After Jeff shipped shells to Nordstrand for the custom NP-4a that went into my Super P (and I was blown away by its sound!), he was kind enough to do it again for my SJ/P. He requested a pic of the bridge pickup to make sure of its size. I dig my Dingstrand pups... :cool:
