Picked up this beauty here on tb on a trade , an ABZ 5. My 3rd Dingwall. This should tie me over until my custom Z is completed. Hopefully soon.

I don’t believe the ABs and supers are dual density. The Z I think is the primary model in which this is implemented. The Sklar has N ash and alder, Primas use 2 different wood slabs as well and Zs can be ordered with 2 wood combo bodies. The Z seems to be the only model stock focused on the dual density ASH body.I don't know, but am also curious. Sheldon's mental gears are always spinning, and he probably doesn't have time to share every change in his processes. In this particular video, he is specifically discussing how ash is lower in density near the bottom of the tree and higher density further up the tree. No mention was made of alder, so the dual density approach may not apply to alder-bodied Afterburners and Supers.
No. He has a model with them as well. He's stated his dingwall is what he'll use on tours. His P and warwick mostly in studio.Isn't Sklar using Warwick now? I read something about him switching in 2013.
that's good to read..No. He has a model with them as well. He's stated his dingwall is what he'll use on tours. His P and warwick mostly in studio.
He’s reportedly thinking about it, on some level. I’m sure that would be popular, although the easiest path is white or black blocks, depending on the fretboard wood, and I don’t think that’s something that would appeal too much to me. And I don’t expect colored blocks to match the finish, not on the imports.
Yeah, I’m sure he has a variety of basses.that's good to read..
Clarification: He uses both the Dingwall and Warwick basses live depending on the gig. When he plays with Judith Owen, for instance, he uses the Warwick rather than the Dingwall.but he’s definitely not moved away from dingwall publicly.
I assume he would depending on the gig/song. I didn’t say anything contradictory to that did I?Clarification: He uses both the Dingwall and Warwick basses live depending on the gig. When he plays with Judith Owen, for instance, he uses the Warwick rather than the Dingwall.
I appreciate Sheldon & Co for their amazing design sense and color choices, but I'm the kind of person who wears socks with sandals, checks with stripes, etc.I love the look of my NG with black hardware and black blocks. I would absolutely prefer real inlays to stickers, but I'll take what I can get.

Nope. I quoted the wrong person somehow. There was an earlier post by @Nuage420 that I was attempting to clarify:I assume he would depending on the gig/song. I didn’t say anything contradictory to that did I?

Someone explained that it's too big in order to cover the existing dot inlays. Makes sense, but I still hate it.The way the one at the 24th fret doesn't fit the space properly (and some of the others, depending on the bass) would drive me absolutely insane, and I don't seem to be OCD in any other ways.

Thinking about selling this Super J. It's a 2012. Trying to figure a fair price
Probably not a whole lot less than what you paid back then.Thinking about selling this Super J. It's a 2012. Trying to figure a fair price
Probably more then what you paid for it unless she’s showing some “mojo” since then. Every time that beauty shows up I start day dreaming.Probably not a whole lot less than what you paid back then.

Actually it's in great condition, but not seeing anything like it out there on the block I'm having a hard time gauging a price. You think 3200 US is about right?Probably more then what you paid for it unless she’s showing some “mojo” since then. Every time that beauty shows up I start day dreaming.
