Dingwall Owners Club

Well, it's here at least:

There's a couple of minor issues that are being worked through. Played it for a good bit and dang, it's friggin' awesome.
Wow that should be stellar! Good choice of components in that rig. The TC118 cab with lots of headroom, a high end pre, and that combustion should rock...

Thanks. I've been rocking the Axe-Fx / QSC setup for a long time, and the TC118 I got middle of last year. For my main band, we don't have any cabs on stage, so it's just the Axe-Fx, wireless, and IEM in that rack usually, and the QSC/TC118 stays at home.
I made a pretty poor recording of one of my bands songs from our upcoming album. This is taken direct from the Axe-Fx.

Dingwall, pickups in Series, active but set flat (knobs centered, at least), played with a pick --> Axe-FX II with my own present --> laptop (no post process work). It's sloppy, but gets the point across. It's been probably 8 months since I've touched that particular piece, but I wanted to get it recorded with this bass. It's a monster.

Still playing my ABI at home through the cmd 121h, finally had band practice after a 6 week summer break, played my P5 with TIs through the cmd102p + 102hf. I couldn't believe how thin the P5 sounds compared to the ABI (also strung with TIs, tone knob at 0, selector at the neck P-tone PUP). I think I may be getting ruined by the ABI (the only bass I have that is an equal is the Signature SKB3005).

I've been playing the ABI for 2 months, and still occasionally miss the G 1 or 2 fret, I would not have expected that issue after 100 hours or so. I'm beginning to think I may need a SP5, would the shorter board alleviate this issue for me? This is putting my ABII build on hold until I get it figured out (sure wish I could play one, anybody near Northern Utah have one I could try?). Input requested.

Guess I'm in the club now. My NG-2 arrived this afternoon. Ordered it from Bass Northwest 11-21-2014. Gonna lower the pickups, throw on some Elixirs, get a shorter strap, and put a sparkle pink and/or blue pickguard on it and BAM, she'll be perfect.

Nice. Bass NW is great to work with. I ordered my NG-2 from them as well. It'll be here Wednesday. Bet it was worth the wait.

Hey guys!
I'm really starting to dig this thing.

Curious question - I'm looking to replace my Bongo 6 string with a Dingwall now. Obviously, the Combustion doesn't come in 6 string version... and everything else is pretty spendy for a chump like me.
What's the general thoughts/feelings on the Ibanez SRFF basses? Are they decent enough?

I have the 5 string SRFF, it's a good bass although it has a different sound than my combustion. Much darker. I'd like to try out different pickups but there aren't any off the shelf that fit. Other than that I have no complaints and I enjoy playing it. They're well put together and I get a lot of compliments on the finish.

Side note probably...but with 4 string Combustions coming out soon I would assume that there will be a 6 string combustion out sometime. Probably not any time soon, but eventually.

I saw a quote somewhere, and I can't find it now, where Sheldon mentioned that they need to look into it, but want to get the 4 string done first - which may be around NAMM '16. So, quite a long way away. I can be patient, too. Getting the 4 string going before the 6 makes perfect sense. I'm not trying to call out Sheldon or anything here... just seeking options I have available. Maybe I'll get an SRFF until the 6 string Combustion comes out.

Good to know!
