I'm still ~5 months out from my ABZ being completed and I'm already GASing hard for a Super P. I've never even owned a P bass but the Super P seems to fix all of the issues I've had with P basses in the past.

If I'm at a gig and my wife is attending, I often hand off my bass to her at the end of the night to take home...that way I don't have to worry about keeping an eye on it while we spend the next hour or two settling up, networking, loading gear, etc. I guess after nearly 8 years of being my other daily squeeze (the bass, not my wife) it's become 'part of the family' I came home and found this in the guest room:

My wife said "You too had a long night and worked hard, so I figured I should just tuck'er in and make her comfy for the night and your bass can rest"

This speaks to what a great relationship you two must have. That's awesome.

I loved my Xwire, but have gone to an X2 on my pedalboard. I can't hear a difference (although I'm sure there is one ), and can't hear a difference using a cable. I have 2 transmitters at gigs (just in case ) and use rechargeable 9 volt batteries which will last an entire 4 set gig.

Thanks for the responses. I see Shure has one that has been getting great reviews. It's a bit pricey, but I like the design. Rechargeable batteries, and has a built-in tuner.

I have the older Shure digital system that preceded the GLX-D (PGX-D). Uses regular alkaline or NimH AA batteries instead of a special lithium pack, and runs a digital signal in the 900MHz band, instead of wi-fi. No built-in tuner.

Rock-solid signal, no interference issues. 24-bit/48KHz sampling. No noise, better low end response with a 5-string than even good analog setups like the Sennheiser G3. Sounds like a cable.

You can also try and see if some US dealers would ship to you. The Bass Place, Bass Northwest, and Bass San Diego are good to work with. Check out their web sites.

I'd start with Barry though since there is not a dealer in Mexico, He'd be able to give you the best answers. Might take a day or so, but he'll respond.

Guess I'm in the club now. My NG-2 arrived this afternoon. Ordered it from Bass Northwest 11-21-2014. Gonna lower the pickups, throw on some Elixirs, get a shorter strap, and put a sparkle pink and/or blue pickguard on it and BAM, she'll be perfect.

Elixir strings fit on a Dingwall? *-*
Which set are you using?
I have a NG-2 coming and I am using Elixir on my non fan-fretted basses as well.

Does anyone know where to purchase a pickguard for a combustion? preferably the ng2, but a v4 could work as well. I'm looking to try and squeeze in a 3rd pickup and would like to keep my original pickguard in tact if possible.

Well you couldnt use the original pick guard anyways. To fit a third pick up between the two you have to move the neck pickup a tad, and the routing on the original PG wont work.

You have to have one custom made.

I'm thinking of winding my own pickup to fit in the existing space of the body route. Ideally I'd start with an ng2 guard and route for the new pickup in the neck position. If I can't buy a ng2 guard I'd settle for a v4 guard and try to place it in between the pickups.

the EXTRA long scales just barely fit but the tension is SUPER high, according to Sheldon.

We've worked pretty hard to perfect Dingwall strings. They fit perfect, the tension is even, they sound great and they last a long time. Those are my first recommendation (not because we sell them but because of all the previous reasons). Payson has developed several sets that do what ours don't, flat wounds, higher tensions (slightly), he now has a medium tension set similar to ours. Kalium makes sets that fit. In fact they designed their traditional tension sets around our bass. They've got a huge variety - HUGE.

Over the years many of our customers have experimented with "off the shelf" sets. We've kept a section on our forum to document their experiences.

I just bite the bullet and buy a couple sets of Dingwall strings at once. Cuts down the shipping per unit cost, and actually makes them cheaper to buy that the strings I used to get off the shelf for my parallel fret basses.

I've been using CircleK/Kalium for quite a few years on my other bass guitars. Undecided between them or Dingwall nickels when it comes time on my Combustion. Anyone done a direct comparison?
