Why? I just like the tone better, and having the "pluggable" ports is a neat idea that is actually useful in reality as well.
Electric or Acoustic? I'm not sure I follow... acoustic would not have any amplification involved? But, I use my Dingwall, Spector, EBMMs and my electric upright through it and it works well.
Genere? Rock, Hard rock in one band, Symphonic Operatic heavy metal in another, and it's been used as a backline in open mic nights for several months.
Yes, I've owned (and gigged) a 15/6 and a 12/6/1. I've also played several different flavors of greenboy cabs at GTGs in this area.

In general, I don't just talk out of my ass and avoid using terms like "the best" and such. I wouldn't compare two pieces of gear if I did not own them at the same time. I've A/B'd greenboys and the AK cab that I have, and as I said, I prefer my AK over greenboy cabs.

I dont think anyone made any claims about what is the "best". He was just saying that they were good cabs. No one is harshing on your choices.

In the post I quoted/replied to, arrowpilot asked me some direct questions (I don't know why he/she did that, but I guess people have their own reasons for drilling someone on their choices), and I gave him/her some direct answers, with clarification on my own process of elimination when I chose AK over greenboy (as, arrowhead seemed so very interested in defending greenboy and/or questioning me on why I chose AK over those cabs). I'm not offended, though I am curious why arrowpilot felt the need to question me as he/she did.

Maybe as a fellow dingwall player he respects your opinion and choices on gear, and wants to know what works for you and why. I didnt read any hostility in his questions.

In fact as I re-read this, it appears to me like he is asking questions to better understand where you are coming from. What kind of instruments you have used with the cab, the type of music, and the familiarity you have with the cab. Nothing accusatory or flippant about that to my eye.

We simply read it differently. Again, I'm not offended or anything. Arrowpilot asked questions, I answered them. Usually, I've found, when someone is interested in learning, they don't just ask questions, especially like the way those were (just a line of questions).

I was playing at practice last night and picking fairly hard (mistakes were made, I should've just turned the amp up) and after returning to finger style I realized I had developed some fret buzz in the 1st fret region of the E string. I'm wondering if I should adjust the saddle to fix this or the truss rod?

EDIT/ PLOT TWIST:

I've managed to find the original strings that were on the bass when it was shipped (I've only swapped them out once for identical but fresher strings) and traded my newer E for the original E. Problem seems to be solved.

Could I have maybe broken the string?

I believe the bass was strung with Dingwall Stainless Steels when I received it and I replaced them ~5 months after buying it with new Dingwall Stainless Steels.

might be slight tension differences. They come from the factory set pretty low, you might need to do a minor set up adjustment.

Hey guys I'm looking to trade my Z1 for a model that isn't a 36 scale. I'm so used to the 35, I just don't see this working out for me. Are all AB models 36 as well?? I used to own an AB1 and recall it being a bit easier for me to play. Maybe I'm nuts?

From what I was told by Dingwall (from Barry while he was still there) was:
"As we will be introducing the 4-string V4/ NG-2 at NAMM in January 2016 the soonest possible for the 6-string would be Fall 2016."

So, I'm holding out hope for it, but it is not even a certain thing at this point.

When they first mentionned the possibility of a Combustion 6 on Facebook Sheldon said there was much more interest than anticipated. So fairly certain it will happen - that's just a matter of time.
Sheldon also "liked" my comment about a 6-string version of the NG-2. May not mean much but...

I'm sorry to hear about your tendonitis. That is a purty red bass you're looking to trade, though!

I prefer the ABZ neck profile over the Z. The Z's feel to flat/thin to me, but I've always been a chunky neck guy...

Z's and AB's are all 37" scale on the long side. If you want a shorter reach, perhaps an SJ or SP is in your future?

One other suggestion:

This will only work when you have the bass on a strap.

Sheldon started shipping ABZ's with a recessed Dunlop Straplok on the back, a couple of inches in from the end of the body. When you click your strap into the back Straplok instead of the normal one, it moves the whole bass over to the right by that much, shortening your reach to the first fret.

It also modifies the angle that the bass sits on the strap, raising the nut a little bit.

Both of these changes reduce the strain on your left wrist quite a bit. I tried the back placement the day I got my bass, and I've never put it back. Not only that, but I've done the same modification to my Fenders!

Any competent guitar tech should be able to install the recessed Straplok, and a pair of them are well under $20.

The only negative I've noticed, is that moving the bass to the right puts the 24th fret closer to your belt buckle, making upper fret access a little more cramped. Shouldn't bother you unless you're a solo bass monster...

I did not mean to sound confrontational. You made very short and broad statement that you "much, much" prefer the AK over GB, so I was interested in what the basis of your opinion was, as well as the reasons why. I have never owned or tried an AK cab, so I have no basis for comparing them. And just for clarification, when I mentioned the Greenboy cabs, I was referring the the Fearless line of cabs (like the F112 and F115 in my photo), not the custom build Fearful line of cabs, which is what the 15/6 and 12/6/1 are.
