I have had my combustion for about 4 months now. I had no problems with the fan frets out from 1-14 frets. Above that I really struggle.
Here is a song that our band does.
That chord and tapping is easy for me on my lightwave bass and I am more likely to pull it off on the fretless than I am on my combustion. The task of barring back and tapping away from where my intuition tells me the fret is, I am finding very difficult to master.
Any recommendations?

I believe Nolly just took delivery of his like 3 weeks ago or so. I'm guessing they'll be in full swing "soon".
I like them. I have them on two of my basses, and I found them to be handy just as a quick reference when the stage light got real dark. They make a little pen light sized LED for charging them back up quickly while on stage. I might order one one of these days.
The Super P5 slayed today. Two gigs: one in the rock band playing covers ranging from classic to modern indie rock, and the second playing funk. I'll have video evidence soon.
Combustion in action Friday night. Just going direct through my pedalboard with IEM's. Sound guy said it sounded great.
Can anybody give me some info on ABZ's in general?
There is an ABZ-5 that I really like the look of with a Glock 3 band pre, but I know nothing about them. Are they the least expensive Canadian model?

That's the jist of it (them being the cheapest Canadian made ones). The options are more limited (i.e. no fancy top woods and such), though you can get preamps and even 3x pickups in them. If I recall, the pickup shape is different than the AB1/AB2 (the ABZ pickups are more like the Combustion pickups).

Thank you both! I've been jonsing for one for a while now and I'm still learning what's what.
The neck profile is different from the Z series, but I believe they're nearly the same as the ABI and higher.
Body wood is swamp ash by default, whereas a ABI default's to alder. Maple/maple neck, I believe stock for an ABI would be maple/walnut or maple/wenge.
Technically, they did build an ABZ with a quilted maple top... Sheldon shared it on their Facebook a couple months ago.
I'd suppose given the choice I'd prefer ash/maple anyways.
I mean, I'd love a Z3 but I'd need to get rid of a whole bunch of stuff to afford it. I want to try something out first just to make sure I'd like the fanned fret thing before I drop a ton. I was/am waiting for an NG-2 in black/green/blue to come up but it's just not happening so I might do something more drastic.

Absolutely nothing wrong with a Combustion or NG-2. If you need something to just get and see if you like, pickup the next Combustion that you see. When you fall in love with it, then place your order for your next Dingwall (and wait 12 months or so).
