So, I finally decided to give the Dunlops a go, I bought a few sets a while back. I put on a set of stainless steels (040-100), and I couldn't be more unimpressed. The E string was totally dead out of the box, I can't remember the last time I experienced that. Probably some Rotos 20+ years ago.
I had two sets, so I replaced the E string, and same thing again, totally lifeless, as if it had been played for a year.
I still have a set of Dunlop nickels, but I doubt I will bother. The other three strings seem OK, but not even close to what I expect from a brand new string.
I can see how these might work for those who like well broken in, bordering to dead, rounds. Me, I am back to Hi Beams.
