Man, there are so many, but I'm going to say Daron Malakian from System always inspired me. Enough to actually go buy a guitar and play one. John Fusciante also inspired the heck out of me a while back too. Although he isnt known for the most complex solos most times, the ones he did, I think, are beautiful and very moving. Goosebumps.

This one from Roy Buchanan on "the messiah will come again" was the first that I thought of when I saw the OP headline. Solo doesn't start for quite awhile but just beautiful playing, to me at least. I bought a tele after hearing that record.

One of them, anyway.

Solo starts at 1:20 ... i always wondered what kind of effect Ace was using on this one, as it sounds nothing like his others (probably something simple, but I'm an effects newb.) >

I didn't read through the full thread but I believe Flaming Youth solo was played by Dick Wagner. I believe Bob Ezrin would use any contact he had available to him to get the result he wanted. That's one of my favourite solos as well.
