Would a 20.5x15x27 do for a 15/6 build? I have an old cab at my dad's and I know the dimensions are suposed to be 20.5x16x30 but I was wondering if the cab would do since it is pretty close?
You'd need to retune it. That box would work adequately if you can get the tuning right. Not as well as a fEarful. You'd be giving up a db or so on the bottom octave, give or take. Not that big of a deal.

It would be similar except under 100hz where you'd lose a little bit.
I'd recommend doing a headcase on top of that box instead of reducing the volume any further by adding an inside box. Also, make sure the box is braced -- chances are good if it's an old box it won't be.
If you do it this way, you can always build a fEarful sub later and not have to redo anything.

I'm not going to be covering my cab with tolex or paint, so I thought the dovetail would be a nice detail. It's more for aesthetics than for structure.
I think you could safely go with a 5x5 sheet of Baltic Birch, but yeah 4'x8' sheet is more than enough.
If you follow Davo's cut plan, a 5x5 is just fine for the 15/6.

I've just ordered up one of ArtOfNoise's über-lightweight, foamcore/fiberglass 15/6/1's. I should have it up here in Montreal in a little under a month. I'm stoked!
Robbie's currently investigating synthetic alternatives to the metal grill, so if I'm lucky I may get an even slightly lighter cab than his previous efforts -- lucky me.
I don't know if many folks in Québec have fEARfuls. I hope to turn a few heads.
Incidentally, just for related interest: I just today took delivery of one of Alex's Barefaced Midget T's. That's a 12" with an inline tweeter. I've only played it at low volume at home, but so far it's just what I was hoping it would be. It's real clear and open sounding. Not deep, but it can take _plenty_ of low and low-mid boost for more traditional sounds.

You can build it from your own plan as dimensions aren't critical for the mid and/or tweeter. If you plan on using a conventional mid such as a 6nd410 or Alpha 6, you need to build a chamber of some sort for that. You can get the chamber dimensions from the fEarful plans. If using a closed back mid, just mount it on the same baffle as your tweeter if using one.

I've been using my 15/6 for a few weeks now and I just don't get the punch I'm used to getting out of my pair of 210 cabs stacked vertically. I've read other posts on this topic and wanted to get some more feedback on it. Yeah, it's got tons of low end while being crystal clear, but it's lacking punch. I guess that's why 10s are so popular, especially the SVT 810, which I've never owned due to the large size, but a bunch of 10s are sure punchy as hell.
